Ruby Records - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ruby was distributed by Warner Brothers Records until Slash was purchased in 1982, when Ruby stopped operating.
Ruby was essentially a personal project (or vanity label) run by The Flesheaters singer Chris D. He was listed as producer of The Misfits' Walk Among Us LP on its original release, although this was amended for the CD reissue.
Ruby was not initially distributed by Warner Bros. It went through the same independent distributors that handled its corporate parent, Slash.

It looked at whom Ruby was calling and who was calling him, why he was in contact with those people, whether he had had previous contact with them, and what the significance of such contacts was.
Ruby's call to him involved possible assistance in his labor dispute.(852) Weiner further testified that he had lied to a reporter when he stated in a taped interview earlier in 1978 that Ruby's call had had nothing to do with Ruby's labor problems.
Baker told the FBI that the purpose of Ruby's call was to seek assistance in the labor dispute Ruby was having with his nightclub competitors in Dallas.

NARA - JFK Assassination Records - Appendix 16
Records of the Institute for Juvenile Research revealed that, as of June 1922, Ruby had no religious education outside the public school system.90 However, according to their children, Jack's parents made some effort to inculcate in them a desire to adhere to the tenets of Orthodox Judaism.
Ruby sold the Silver Spur to Roscoe "Rocky" Robinson; however, Robinson could not obtain a license to operate the club and it was subsequently closed.278 For a few months during this period, Ruby also operated Hernando's Hideaway, but this venture proved unsuccessful.
Although Ruby denied ever being in Hawaii,421 there is some evidence that during the summer of 1961 he was in Honolulu seeking dancing talent.422 While it is unlikely that Ruby would forget a trip to Honolulu in 1961, there is no other indication that such a trip, if it occurred, had any sinister motives.

THE HSCA ON JACK RUBY'S MAFIA LINKS   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-29)
Weiner suggested Ruby was seeking a bond necessary to obtain an injunction in his labor troubles, yet the committee could find no other creditable indication that Ruby contemplated seeking court relief, nor any other explanation for his having to go to Chicago for such a bond.
The committee took note that Jack Ruby had dined with a Dallas-based member of the Marcello organization the evening before the assassination of the President and that the same Dallas-based member of the Marcello organization was the first person to visit Ruby after he had been jailed for the murder of the President's alleged assassin.
As for Jack Ruby's connections with the Marcello organization in New Orleans, the committee was to confirm certain connections the FBI had been aware of at the time of the assassination but had never forcefully brought to the attention of the Warren Commission.

The computer telephone project established that Ruby and Tannenbaum were in regular contact by telephone from June until October 1963.
This sequence could thus be interpreted as consistent with what Pecora suggested- that Ruby called his trailer court office simply to relay a message to another party.
(873) This call did not appear in the telephone records gathered by the committee.) Baker told the FBI that Ruby had not used his real name, but had instead instructed him to call back and ask for "Lou," which he did.(874) This was the reason Baker gave for placing a collect call to Ruby's number.

Nonetheless, this record, with just a hint of the ferocity of the LPs to come, is full of jagged, blazing glory, with a touch of rockabilly adulation and an up-front, slashing guitar sound that laid down a subsequent trademark.

Michael Tsai - Blog - Perl vs. Python vs. Ruby
Python and Ruby both come with Mac OS X 10.2, both have BBEdit language modules, and both promise a cleaner approach to scripting.
In this case, it means that records contains all information on each record and, as such, it would be trivial to augment the output to generate different kinds of reports from that single array of dictionaries.
Apart from style (I prefer ruby, it is a cleaner design to my view, like Smalltalk, but with cleaned-up Perl things like integrated Regex), there are other things that may sway you for a particular project.

The Ruby Doe are currently in the studio recording and mixing their new full length.
If the curious title of their latest, Always With Wings, on Loveless Records, doesn’t clue you in (the maxi-pad reference can’t be unintentional, can it?), then one earful of the Ruby Doe’s multifaceted grinds will leave no doubt — this Seattle trio doesn’t just rock outside the boom box, they blow it to bits.
The fact that the Ruby Doe don't have some big, corporate label kissing their asses by now just confirms for me that most of the big, corporate suits listen to music with their heads up their own asses.

"What I mean to say is Goodbye," is a record that touches on, in Brosseau’s words, “abandoned buildings, new love, the prairieland, being haunted, roaming around, and being thrilled and killed.” The record has that quality of an intimate conversation at the next table that you just can’t pull your ear away from.
Brosseau’s voice is center stage, supported by his delicate guitar playing and a cast of players that drop in and out of the recording providing subtle responses to Brosseau’s lyrics.
