At the very beginning of the 20th century Rudolf Belling’s name was something like a battlecry.
In 1935 Rudolf Belling stayed for eight months in New York, where he had an exhibition in the Weyhe Gallery with his most important works from the Modern Classic Period.

The German sculptor Rudolf Belling was born on August 26, 1886 in Berlin and died in Krailling, near Munich on June 9, 1972.
After the war, Belling began exhibiting again, first in the Karl-Ernst-Osthaus Museum in Hagen in 1956, followed by successive exhibits in the Gurlitt Galery of Munich, the Vömel Gallery in Düsseldorf and the Ketterer Gallery in Munich again.
Rudolf Belling's works still in existence today are to be found in Museums in New York, Vienna, Essen, Hamburg, Pasadena, Kaiserslautern, Wuppertal and in private collections.

The wood sculpture The Aviator served as a model for a bronze statuette; it was repeatedly cast into iron on behalf of the aviation inspectorate Berlin-Adlershof and donated to members of the flying-squadron for special merits.
In 1937 Belling's works were presented in the Munich Museum für Deutsche Kunst (Museum for German Art) as well as at the exhibition Entartete Kunst ("Degenerate Art") in 1937.

1919/20 hatte Belling mit der Ausgestaltung des Scala-Tanz-Casinos in Berlin als einer der ersten Künstler der Avantgarde einen Innenraum vollständig als plastisches Kunstwerk behandelt.

I was a member of the artist committee which at the end of 1928 under the direction of Count Harry Kessler set up the first extensive Maillol retrospective in Germany in the Berlin rooms of the art dealer Alfred Flechtheim, who also later represented me at exhibitions.
Other important sculptors, such as Rudolf Belling, Ernesto de Fiori, Moissey Kogan, Georg Kolbe, and Renée Sintenis, worked together on the committee.
For me personally this was both a great honor and a pleasure.
