Rudolf Spielmann (5 May 1883 - 20 August 1942) was an Austrian-Jewish chess player of the romantic school.
Rudolf Spielmann, "The master of attack", was also know as the "last romantic".
Spielmann was one of a handful of players to win more than one game against Capablanca, and was one of an even smaller number to have an even score (+2 =8 -2) against him.

Spielmann was a lawyer from Austria turned chess vagabond, drifting around the world, teaching for money, demonstrating his maneuvers.
Before the final match, legend goes, Spielmann was up late in the hotel lounge, nursing a beer, when the great Reti, another player in the tournament, approached him.
Spielmann once said, "In the opening, a teacher should play like a book; in the middle game, like a magician; and in the end, like a machine."

The Chess Mind This Week's ChessBase Show: Spielmann-Stoltz
Yet the chess mind is not only a chess mind, and other topics, such as philosophy, may appear from time to time.
As hinted in my previous post, I have decided to use the spectacular game Rudolf Spielmann-Gösta Stoltz, Stockholm (match, game 5) 1930 for this week's ChessBase show.
Spielmann (1883-1942), author of the classic The Art of Sacrifice in Chess, was renowned as a brilliant player, but in this game he's on the receiving end of an inspired sacrificial idea by Stoltz (1904-1963).

ChessPublishing.com Forum - For Mnb: New Spielmann book
Perhaps they've noticed the disproportionate number of references to Spielmann on this forum and failed to note that they came from or were directed to a single member, but assumed that the market was ripe for a new book on Spielmann.
It will be interesting to learn whether the analysis makes this book rich beyond the beauty of the games...
Personally I suspect a certain forum member to have written loads of emails to them about faulty analysis in their books full of references to Spielmann, Schwarz, Nunn and McNabb, so they thought this was the best way to get rid of that
