SECTION 3 - ruffhouse records "greatest hits" [various artists]
Ruffhouse has been around a little less than a decade, but their roster is pretty impressive.
Maybe it was a little too early in their existence to release a greatest hits album, but Ruffhouse have five Fugee songs represented (including solo projects from Lauryn Hill and Wycleff Jean and the Refugee All Star John Forte), three songs by Cypress Hill (and one's a remix).
I understand Ruffhouse didn't have much to choose from here, but I truly doubt even a portion of the population has ever heard "Cheapskate" from Sporty Thievz (who?), yet that song made it onto this "greatest hits" album.

Ten years ago, the Philadelphia-based indie label Ruffhouse Records inked a P&D (pressing and distribution) deal with Columbia Records.
The result was the establishment of a 90's Philly Groove thang that demolished the wall separating hip-hop and alternative music while continuing to produce an unbroken string of gold, platinum, and multi-platinum successes for the label.
The Ruffhouse 10th Anniversary Special includes never-before-seen studio performances and/or live footage from many of the artists including Wyclef Jean performing "Gone Till November" at his Haitian Benefit Carnival Concert in Miami, 1998.

Ruffhouse began as a gleam in the collective eye of musician/manager Chris Schwartz (now Ruffhouse Chief Executive Officer) and studio alchemist Joe "The Butcher" Nicolo (now Ruffhouse President) in 1989.
In 1995, Ruffhouse released Blunted On Reality, the debut album by The Fugees; that record generated two underground singles, "Nappy Heads" and "Vocab." Released in 1996, the Fugees' sophomore album, The Score became one of the watershed albums of the emerging hip-hop nation; The Score has been certified six times platinum by the RIAA.
