 Rugby League World Cup [Definition]
Tri-Nations The Rugby League Tri-Nations is a relatively new concept for rugby league, though it can be seen as a logical continuation of the early world cup structure, in which the best teams in the world play in a round robin tournament leading to a final.
The competition was envisaged as a celebration of rugby league, and the size of the competition was doubled with 5 additional teams qualifying for the tournament.

 French Rugby League History
Rugby league was taking up the slack, and as sports papers from the time show, there was a groundswell of enthusiasm for the game - culminating in 1939 when the national side went to St Helens and became the first French team - in any sport - to beat England on their home ground.
The national team was banned from the Five Nations tournament because of violence on the pitch, and the number of clubs was falling every year.
Rugby league was a professional game - players signed annual contracts with their clubs and had control over their careers.

BBC SPORT RUGBY UNION Six Nations set for more expansion
English rugby officials have mooted plans for a Six Nations Championship with 12 teams with emerging European nations forming a second division.
The English Rugby Football Union believes the competition should be expanded to allow relegation and promotion between two divisions.
The plan would lead to a big increase in the international demands on top players and may not get the support of the league clubs without further financial compensation.

 Australian Rugby League
International Rugby League is firmly back on the map after 10 years in the wilderness and much of that has to do with the Tri-Nations concept and Great Britain's re-emergence as an International force.
The smaller nations have to be looked after and the possible financial success of the Tri-Nations should be used to help developing nations play in second and third tier championships to help the game progress to new and unfound levels.
International Rugby League is back and the format of the Tri-Nations is the main reason for that.

Bring the Rugby League World Cup back! Petition
Today Rugby League is growing all over the world, sadly it does this relatively on it's own with little help from the big league nations of Australia, Great Britain and New Zealand.
The selfishness in Rugby League must end, enough with the focus on club competitions and competition between only the big 3 nations, we need to show our great game on the world stage, if we want to have any hope of future growth and sponsorship.
Rugby League World Cup history stretches back as far as 1954 when Great Britain came from behind to beat France 16-12, even Union's World Cup only came into existance in 1987.

The loss muddies France’s hopes for the championship of the Six Nations Tournament since both England and Ireland are 2-0 after two rounds while France is 1-1 and must play tourney-favorite England in London later in the series of games.
Apparently the league's plan is to not allow Uzès to be demoted no matter how bad they are…all’s fair in rugby, love and war.
The French television commentators covering the national team have complained that all the referees seem to be Anglophones and “why can’t there be French-speaking referees for the French team?” (The French captain has a teammate translator for discussions with the referee, a frequent occurrence in rugby.) Well, all the referees at Uzès’ level are French.

A great camaraderie built up between the sides competing in the Emerging Nations and in each of the nations that took part there is the spark of something that feels hugely positive for the future development of the international game which must be nurtured if rugby league is to survive.
When you talk to the people involved in these teams it is inspiring to know you are talking to the founding fathers of rugby league in their respective countries not just the latest in a long line of managers employed to bring some much needed success.
Never mind that this was the Emerging Nations final between a side of Aussie-based Italians and a Great British amateur side that has really no right to call itself an emerging nation and who cared about the late change of venue from Rochdale.

Don't restrict it to the Rugby League heartland, let it get out to the other nations who are not as familiar with the game as what we all are.

 Wales Rugby League
Emerging Nations matches could be held in regional New South Wales and Queensland, giving league-loving small towns the chance to be involved in the event and allowing crowds to be drawn to the matches that would be impossible in larger cities.
Rugby League is a much more popular sport than Union in Australia, particularly in New South Wales and Queensland, so there is no reason not to be optimistic about crowd comparisons, especially for the smaller matches.
World Cup 2000 runners-up New Zealand are also capable of hosting the event, with excellent sporting facilities, good sponsorship and television opportunities, a public who have proven they will support top-class rugby league, and most importantly, a competitive team.

 League Unlimited - Rugby League
Amongst British Rugby League’s so-called media experts there seems to be a widely accepted view that, in last years’ Ashes series, Great Britain showed that they were closing the gap with Australia and have a real chance of beating the Old Enemy in the forthcoming tri-nations tournament.
It is at least encouraging that, according to this week’s League Weekly, Noble has said Australia and New Zealand are two very different sides and each will require a different tactical approach.
One of Noble’s great strengths is that he is a flexible tactical thinker who has shown with Bradford that he can adapt his tactics to different fixtures and to the state of the game.

 Russian Rugby League
Russia made a remarkable and dramatic   entry to Rugby League back in 1730, when three clubs came to England eager to learn,  and  the  administration  of  the  Russian  rugby  union,  having witnessed the excitement inherent in Rugby League, switched en-bloc to the game.
Now back in the fold of full international Rugby League, hopes are high that this World Cup  will  be the springboard for a revival in the Russian game.
The enormous upheavals  in  Russia  have  made  it  difficult  to  make  progress in sport, but Rugby League has maintained its presence largely in Moscow and the city of Kazan.

To further develop Rugby League at all levels in the USA, the AMNRL have partnered with Steeden, the official Rugby League ball of the Australian Rugby League.
