Ethic of reciprocity - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The ethic of reciprocity (or the Golden Rule) is a general moral principle found in virtually all religions and culture, often as a fundamental rule, a fact which suggests that it may be related to innate aspects of human nature (see altruism).
A key element of the ethic of reciprocity is that a person attempting to live by this rule treats all people, not just members of his or her in-group, with consideration.
A logical loophole in the positive form of Golden "rule" is that it would require a masochist to harm others, even without their consent, if that is what the masochist would wish for themselves.

CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: Rule of St. Benedict
Be that as it may, this manuscript of the Rule was presented by Pope Zachary to Monte Cassino in the middle of the eighth century, a short time after the restoration of that monastery.
His Rule thus consists of a carefully considered combination of old and new ideas; rivalry in austerity was eliminated, and there was to be henceforth a sinking of the individual in the community.
Of the seventy-three chapters comprising the Rule, nine treat of the duties of the abbot, thirteen regulate the worship of God, twenty-nine are concerned with discipline and the penal code, ten refer to the internal administration of the monastery, and the remaining twelve consist of miscellaneous regulations.

Final Rule: Proxy Voting by Investment Advisers; Release No. IA-2106
The rule and rule amendments are designed to ensure that advisers vote proxies in the best interest of their clients and provide clients with information about how their proxies are voted.
Rule 206(4)-6 also requires advisers to describe their proxy voting policies and procedures to clients, and upon request, to provide clients with a copy of those policies and procedures.
The new rule and rule amendments use performance, rather than design standards, in the sense that that they require policies and procedures to ensure votes are in the best interest of clients, rather than specifying specific elements of the policies and procedures.

 The English Rule
Even a minimal investigation into the working of the rule in the English legal system (which serves England and Wales; Scotland and Northern Ireland have separate legal systems) would reveal that many litigants are shielded from either the costs or the benefits, or both, that the cost-shifting principle theoretically creates.
Under the rule, costs follow the event; that is, at any point at which some aspect of a case is decided, the costs associated with that particular decision are assessed to the loser.
To its opponents, the rule is a nightmare that threatens to deny many victims their rightful compensation and put many lawyers into financial crisis.

It depends in great measure on the rules and traditions of Christian monasticism that existed from the fourth century to the time of its writing.
It is a Christian rule in the sense that its spiritual doctrine picks up on the values of the Bible (e.g., prayer, fasting, service of neighbor) and arranges for a life in which these values can be lived out in community.

However, the third rule in the user's style sheet is not "!important" and will therefore lose to the second rule in the author's style sheet (which happens to set style on a shorthand property).
These rules have no selectors, but for the purpose of step 3 of the cascade algorithm, they are considered to have an ID selector (specificity: a=1, b=0, c=0).
The rules are assumed to be at the start of the author style sheet and may be overridden by subsequent style sheet rules.

 Ann Rule's Official Home Page
Extracting behind-the-scenes details, Rule makes these volatile relationships utterly real, and masterfully re-creates the ill-fated chains of events in such cases as the Washington Husky "football star" (or was he?) who seduced vulnerable women and then destroyed their lives...the killer whose calling card was a single blood red rose.
Rule once again validates her standing as one of the pre-eminent chroniclers of modern serial murder, calling upon her experience as a former police officer and a civilian adviser to the VICAP Task Force to present a nuanced and easily comprehensible account of the hunt for the man responsible for at least 48 killings.
Rule also captures the profound sadness pervading this grim chapter in U.S. crime history by humanizing the grieving relatives, as well as the dedicated investigators who, tragically, had interviewed Ridgway several times and then moved on to other suspects.

Indeed, as discussed in the notice announcing the proposed rule in 65 FR 23939, ensuring that our customers ``do not unintentionally violate the laws of those states that regulate the financial arrangements between nonprofits and certain types of professional fundraisers'' was one of the motives underlying the rulemaking.
Under an exemption of fundraising mailings from the cooperative mail rule, the states and federal agencies will be able to adopt and enforce their standards without concern that such action might be in conflict with postal rules.
Second, the proposed rule is revised to make clear that the exception from application of the cooperative mail rule applies only where the monetary donations solicited are for the entity authorized to mail at nonprofit rates.

Home Rule - ENCYCLOPEDIA - The History Channel UK
In 1893 the Liberals passed the Second Home Rule Bill in the House of Commons, providing a bicameral legislature for purely local matters and Irish representation at Westminster to vote on Irish taxation.
While unsatisfactory to Home Rule advocates, the bill was, nevertheless, defeated in the House of Lords.
The Irish Council Bill of 1907, which was to establish a purely Irish body to direct the spending of Irish tax proceeds, failed to pass because of Irish dissatisfaction with the plan.
