Rumiko Takahashi took a great risk in becoming a manga artist, especially because she was a woman writing and illustrating comic books for a mainly male audience.

The second problem with translating Rumiko’s work is that the ideas she uses often have a cultural basis that doesn’t easily translate into English.
Rumiko’s characters act both as hilarious caricatures/send ups of various character types, as well as fully-rounded people who, when they drop their masks, are as confusing and messed up as the rest of us.

So for people expecting Takahashi at her best, try again, but if you want to see the origins of who is in my opinion the greatest manga artist ever, and/or is already a fan of Takahashi, this is a good buy.
Just don't expect to be able to compare it to either of her four main series, all of which I've mentioned.
Overall,this book is O.K. Rumiko shows her creativity well.Averaging out each score,I'd like to give this one 4 stars,but its very clear that "Time Warp Trouble" weighs down the overall quality of the book.In total,it earns 3 stars.

Takahashi may be a prolific manga-ka, but I had no place in my heart for either Urusei Yatsura or Ranma ½, the two titles that made her a household name in Japan.
Takahashi has a splendid sense of selection, zooming in during neck-up processes, and then zooming out to panoramic views to either set the mood or reveal the scope of the action.
With regards to the dialogue, I was troubled to spot one case of "missing words" from Inu-Yasha's dialogue balloon, and also that his manner of speech was inconsistent — one minute it was Old English, the next it was street slang.

As a work spanning many years, the art is fairly unattractive in the first couple of volumes, but soon picks up in quality and starts to look much cleaner and more like what is seen in the anime version.
All the volumes have the clean and simple Takahashi drawing style seen in her other manga, with simply-drawn characters and featuring just enough detail to grasp the scene without cluttering it up too much.
Of course, it couldn't be considered a romantic comedy without comedy bits in it, which are done in classic Takahashi style and usually involve the other tenants making fun of Godai, or obvious misunderstandings, or the exploitation of a person's weaknesses, such as Mitaka's irrational fear of dogs.

I have been a fan a Takahashi for many years.
There are still other stories and anime movies that she has created; all of them enjoyable.
Rumiko Takahashi has several strengths she is a very talented illustator, she has a great comedic sense, further than that she is a talented storyteller.

The series comes to a close with four more episodes that for the most part are pretty well kept within the bounds of reality as seen by Rumiko Takahashi.
While I continue to shy away from Takahashi's most recent long running series and it took awhile for me to actually get to finish Ranma ½, I'm still very much enjoying watching some of the short stories she writes come to life in this anime series.
While some of the episodes across the entire anthology series haven't been some of my favorites, I love seeing the diversity of Rumiko Takahashi's stories and the way she weaves things back and forth as well as the overall positive nature of the stories.
