  Rumours
The new lineup that Fleetwood Mac successfully unveiled with their eponymous 1975 album became even more successful with the multi-platinum Rumours, which was the band's most celebrated album and one of the best-selling albums of all time.
It was the core and insperation of the album.
As you can see Rumours is a diary as each track on the album represents a diary entry from each band member offerring their own perspective of what was going on in their lives.

It was those frictions and breakups that fueled the album and turned it into one of the classic albums of the 70's and in rock history.
Rumours not only capitalized on the success of their prior album, but it was so big that it became a cultural touchstone.
The album spent a staggering 31 weeks at number one in 1977, became the first album to spawn four top ten hits and ranks as one of the five biggest selling albums in history with over 20 million in sales and won the 1977 Grammy for Album of the Year.

"Rumours" has long since ceased to be an album in it's own right, and it is now more of a state of mind, I guess.
In essence, the first side of this album is generally why it is hailed as a classic, but the second side is worthy of recognition as well, possessing some of Fleetwood Mac's most mysterious and haunting music.
Albums like 'Pet Sounds' and 'Sgt. Peppers' are famous, and it's easy to see why when you listen to them.

 Stevie Nicks Biography
Stevie also graced Rumours with her haunting tune about drugs and relationships, "Gold Dust Woman." Many connected with this tune, because at the time Stevie was becoming the biggest female act in the world.
The only dissapointment Stevie had with Rumours was Mick Fleetwood's decision to cut her ode to then ex-lover Lindsey Buckingham, "Silver Springs," due to lack of album space.
This album, would be a bigger hit than her previous “Rock A Little”, which carried one of her biggest singles “Talk To Me.” The song from the new album, “Rooms on Fire” was a radio hit, and the video received good airplay on MTV and VH1.

The tone of the entire album was set by Buckingham's title tune, which, much to everyone's surprise, was a bona fide hit single like its predecessors on Rumours and Fleetwood Mac.
Buckingham took a lot of heat for the album's relative "failure" (though four million copies of an expensivesome say "over-priced"double album is really the equivalent of eight million records sold, not bad by any standards), but he will undoubtedly have the last laugh.
The album's producer, Keith Olsen, used tapes he made with the duo to pitch his own talents to Mick Fleetwood, and the drummer was impressed with both Olsen and Buckingham/Nicks.

The Rumours album was the second record put out by the 'revitalised' version of a Sixties British blues band who had virtually re-invented themselves as an American radio soft-rock operation.
But the Rumours album encapsulates the emotional claustrophobia and romantic turmoil that enveloped the band during its writing and recording.
They did, and survive to this day, having undergone even more line-up changes and a degree of style alterations. The 'classic Rumours line-up' as the press love to call it, is back together having resolved their personal differences with their ex-partners, and each other, and are recording prior to touring again.
