	Runnymede (borough) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		Runnymede is a local government district with borough status in the English county of Surrey.
		Runnymede is entirely unparished and is largely built-up, although with expanses of countryside.
		The district was formed in 1974 under the Local Government Act 1972 by the merger of the Chertsey and Egham urban districts.

		Runnymede is a water-meadow alongside the River Thames in the county of Surrey, England, associated with the signing of the Magna Carta and today the site of a collection of memorials.
		Twenty miles southwest of London, Runnymede Meadow, with adjoining lands totalling 182 acres, was presented to the National Trust by the first Lady Fairhaven and her two sons in memory of Urban Hanlon Broughton in 1929.

		Vossianie (Vossialovka) Cemetery was established in 1899 by the Doukhobors of Vossianie (Vossialovka) village near Runnymede.

		His utopian agricultural experiment was based on the concept that small farmers could support themselves on one intensively cultivated acre, thereby achieving independence and a quality of life superior to that in industrialized cities.

		One of the frustrations of unincorporation was the number of special districts to which residents paid taxes for such services as drainage, fire protection, garbage, sanitation, lighting, recreation, water, education, etc. According to one source, East Palo Alto fell under the jurisdiction of 37 special districts in the mid-1960s.
		Consolidation of these districts and their services was one of the arguments used to support incorporation.
		It was defeated by sanitary district voters who lived in Menlo Park and would not have been affected by incorporation.

		Part of the meads were protected to some extent against building before they were accepted by the National Trust as they are Lammas Land and subject to certain common rights for part of the year.
		Speculative development has been prevented and in 1963 the Egham Urban District Council gave 110 acres of the wooded Cooper's Hill Slopes to the National Trust.
		Thus more riverside land was made available to the public and the preservation of the countryside surrounding Runnymede ensured.

		Meetings were also held in a barn belonging to W S Hunt of Ottershaw and then at the delightful District Camp Site situated at Anningsley Park.

		I have found plenty of Venture Scout information but as you well know Explorer Scouts are slightly different in the fact they are 14 to 18 than starting at 16 and going past 18.
		My district think that there should be no alcohol full stop but as many of you will know this is unrealistic and I'd rather control the alcohol intake properly than having my Explorers go off and get drunk somewhere else where I don't know in defiance of a zero-tolerance rule.
		The district executive committee have decided there will be complete zero tolerance on any alcohol on any activities run, either group based or district based.
