Situated in northwestern Victoria on the Murray River, Mildura is the growing regional centre for an area that produces more than 80% of Victoria's grapes and much of Victoria's citrus fruit, as well as other agricultural industries such as cereals, nurseries, cut flowers, sheep and cattle.
The Council installed four used oil collection facilities at the Mildura, Ouyen, Murrayville and Cullulleraine Waste Facilities in July 2003 and originally estimated that about 9000 litres of used oil would be collected for recycling each year at the Mildura facility.

Freddy (not his real name) is a six to seven month old blue heeler-cross, and one of the many stray animals taken in by the Mildura Animal Shelter on a daily basis.
The majority of animals are brought in by Mildura Rural City Council's local laws officers, or when residents contact the shelter to report strays.
The Mildura Animal Shelter is open from 8.30 to 10am and 2.30pm to 4pm daily, and can be contacted on 03 5024 7867.

EPA Victoria officers, with assistance from the Mildura Rural City Council, have traced the source of the recent oil spill into the Murray River, which saw booms used to trap the material and prevent it from entering Mildura’s potable water supply.
The Mildura Rural City Council responded with their mobile spill trailer and booms were used to trap oil discharging from the Ettiwanda Avenue drain.
A major clean up was undertaken by the Mildura Rural City Council who worked for the next five days to clean up the stormwater drains, and to help trace the source, of the spill.

There are five new faces in the nine-member council and former councillors with connections to areas outside Mildura, Greg Brown and Damian Heintze, were among those defeated.
