Swan Hill College is an accredited international school, which provides quality educational and training opportunities for the Rural City of Swan Hill and its surrounding region.
The city is situated 330 kilometres from Melbourne on the River Murray with a city population of 10,000 and a district population of 22,000 dependent on a variety of primary industries, tourism and regional services.
State education in Swan Hill commenced on the current site, with the development of Swan Hill High School in 1927, and Swan Hill Technical School was established in 1961 to meet the growing demand for boys’ vocational education.

Plans to bring Zimbabwean farmers to Swan hill have taken a leap forward, with around 15 families set to meet with potential employers next month.
In April the Swan Hill Rural City Council answered an SOS from Zimbabwean farmers forced from their land, in the hope of filling a critical shortage of skilled workers in the region.

The City of Swan will look to change its rating classification on about 20 properties in the Swan Valley to improve fairness to owners of similarly used land throughout the region.
Of the 19 potentially-affected properties identified in the City’s survey, only one owner objected to the proposed change and a submission was received and considered by the City.
This is considered unfair for genuinely rural properties and for commercial properties being rated on ‘Gross Rental Value’ (annual rental value of the improvements such as buildings).

A decade ago, the Swan Hill Town Hall was a pretty typical regional centre town hall hosting debutante balls, weddings and small conventions as well as some big name acts from Melbourne as part of their regional circuit.
Following the merger of the local rural councils, Swan Hill Rural City Council was established in 1995 to serve Swan Hill and surrounding areas totalling 6200 sq km with a population of 21,700.
