Before starting, the Ruritans provided riders with a hot dog lunch to hold them over until they could reach the meal prepared for them at the Lawsonville Community Center.
Over three and a half hours later, the convoy reached the community center to hold their awards ceremony, "pig-out" on BBQ, and then say goodbye until the 2008 ride which is planned for July 12th.

Then in 1964 when Ruritan National Executive Secretary M. Gray died, the family requested that in lieu of funeral flowers, memorial contributions be made to the existing educational fund.
At the Ruritan National Convention in Virginia Beach, Virginia, on January 29, 1968, the Ruritan National Constitution was amended to establish the Ruritan National Foundation and to provide for the election of its five Trustees.
