Specialists of RUSAL have also visited Vostokmetall smelter in Khabarovsk, one of Russia’s largest producer of secondary aluminum alloys with the estimated capacity of 50,000 metric tons a year.
RUSAL confirmed to Kommersant that it is interested in the secondary recycling of aluminum and is now considering ways to develop this sphere but would not further comment on the possible purchase of new assets.

RUSAL said the study was for a new 600,000-tonne aluminum smelter in the Siberian energy-rich Irkutsk region.
According to preliminary estimates, construction of the smelter could start in 2006 and be completed by 2009, a RUSAL statement said.
RUSAL said last week it and a unit of Kazakh Eurasian Industrial Association (EIA) would invest $3 billion in building an aluminum smelter and alumina refinery in Kazakhstan.

The RA-400 cell, launched at Rusal's Sayanogorsk aluminum smelter in Siberia, is designed to produce three metric tons of aluminum per day, and was the product of $11.3mln of investment, the firm said.
Rusal plans to install two more of the cells at Sayanogorsk, and will equip all its new smelters with the new technology, the company said.
Rusal is the world's third largest primary aluminum producer.

He said RusAl intended to build the largest of the planned smelters, with a name-place capacity of 500,000 tons of the metal a year, near the half-built Boguchany hydroelectric power station in the east Siberian Krasnoyarsk region.
He said RusAl could build the smelter near the town of Taishet either independently or jointly with the local Alyukom-Invest firm, which is building its own 250,000-tons-per-year smelter there.
RusAl has also prepared a feasibility study of the second stage of its Sayanogorsk Aluminum Plant in southern Siberia, which will permit the smelter to raise annual capacity by 270,000 tons.
