Filmtracks: Rush Hour 2 (Lalo Schifrin)
Rush Hour 2: (Lalo Schifrin) Whether you like them or not, the pairing of Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker turned out to be more of a success in Rush Hour than anyone could have predicted, with the film grossing over $250 million worldwide.
For the directors and producers of the Rush Hour phenomenon, an equally important element of the film's success was the musical score by legendary jazz composer Lalo Schifrin, who remains best known for his hit television themes and scores for such shows as Mannix and Mission: Impossible.
Schifrin's score for the original Rush Hour was a sort of novelty item, overshadowed obviously by the slapstick action in the film, but nevertheless of interest to Schifrin's fans and those few who collect such comedy action scores.

RUSH HOUR 2 - INFINIFILM DVD
That Rush Hour 2 (and the Pink Panther saga, for that matter) is often so genial in its cheap humour and gratifying in its physical exertions speaks to an almost universal desire to see people get a pie in the face while inelegantly breaking societal taboos.
While Rush Hour 2 is the latest title in New Line's sensational "infinifilm" line of DVDs, its extras don't soar to the heights of their "Platinum Series" Rush Hour disc, which contains among other things a fly-on-the-wall segment showing Jackie Chan's choreography of a scene that is unparalleled in its candour.
The 4-minute "The Fashion of Rush Hour 2" is funny for the presence of Jeremy Piven, selecting his wardrobe and finding his feminine side, but the multi-angle visual effects deconstruction (of the American Embassy explosion) has been done better elsewhere.

`Rush Hour 2' is a highly enjoyable follow-up to the original 1998 box office smash.
As with most Chan films, however, `Rush Hour 2' seems to go on for about a half hour too long – even though its running time barely clocks in at a very short 90 minutes.
Perhaps this type of material really can't be sustained much beyond an hour before the repetitiousness of it begins to take its toll.

In "Rush Hour 2," even at age 47 he remains in startling physical form, although an actor on the film told me that the great man used a double on a particularly brutal explosion stunt.

TheMovieBoy Review: Rush Hour 2 (2001)
The most accurate adjective to describe "Rush Hour 2" is "by-the-numbers." From the one-liners between Lee and Carter, to the fish-out-of-water premise, to the copiously littered action sequences, the movie is practically a carbon copy of the predecessor, which stands as both a positive and negative thing.
The jokes in "Rush Hour 2" are, more or less, recycled from 1998's "Rush Hour," and aside from the agreeability of the interactions between Lee and Carter, the characters have no room to breathe and stand out from the restrictive confines of the story.
"Rush Hour 2" leaves the door wide open for a third installment; let's hope the makers try harder next time before spending an insanely high $90-million on a story that has been told, quite frankly, to death.

 The Daily Texan
This is exactly the feeling you get when watching Rush Hour 2, a summer sequel based on a funny and original predecessor that's ruined the second time around mostly by giving too much screen time to motor mouth Chris Tucker, not enough time to action star Jackie Chan and even less time to them together.
But Rush Hour 2 does pick itself up, dust itself off and manages to provide a decent picture by compensating in other areas.
So you should definitely see Rush Hour 2 if you're interested in seeing an intriguing mystery-action movie with a twisting plot and some great fighting scenes with Chan.

“Rush Hour 2” never lives up to the first film, but provides plenty of cool martial arts action and enough laughs along the way.

The sequel is less gritty and tough than “Rush Hour,” which makes it even lighter and less intense.

Rush Hour 2 is as funny, if not funnier, as the original - no easy feat for an action/comedy sequel.
I was primarily sceptical as to how the cast and crew of the second instalment of Rush Hour planned to equal the success of the original, and whilst it's not quite up to the standard of its predecessor, it's still a worthy sequel.
As I said previously, Rush Hour 2 is a decent sequel - it's not up to the standard of the original, but it contains the same charismatic partnership of the two main characters and the clever plot.
