  Rush goalie
Rush goalie (also known as drop back goalie, fly goalie, fly keepers, monkey rush, goalie-and, goalie-rush, glass-hands, goalie-wag, spot-goalie, last man back, any man save and goalie-when) is a variation of football in which the role of the goalkeeper is more flexible than normal.
Rush goalie is only played in informal football matches, usually by children, and often when all of the players wish to play a more active role in the game than the position of goalkeeper would normally allow; or when the number of players per side is particularly low.
Sometimes (in particular when the variant is known as goalie-when) players are only allowed to handle the ball in the area provided they have shouted "when" before touching the ball.

The Goalie Doctor: Open letter to Coaches
The goalie should be treated no different than any other player on the team in terms of understanding what his responsibilities are, but unlike forwards and defenceman, the goalie is often left on his own to determine what his goals need to be.
Goalies have always been treated like targets in practice, and, after being shot at, are usually left alone to work on their game as the rest of the team works on specific plays and situations.
Goalies can be incorporated into practice to keep them safe and working with only a little thought from the coach and respect from the players.

A rush goalie is never bored, and is always more tired than the rest of his friends by the end of the game.
Fly goalie wasn’t awarded very much, because it gave the team with fly a big advantage, and because it was open to abuse: when under attack, everyone on your team essentially feels that they can use their hands when in the area, because at that moment they’re implicitly the keeper.
Both rush and fly are agreed before a game starts, in much the same way that house rules are agreed in a game of poker; they’re suggested by someone and then agreed by general acclamation.

The Goalie Doctor: The Inside Angle
The only difference between Goalie A and Goalie B is that Goalie A gets the middle of the net 10% of the time, and Goalie B gets the middle 90% of the time.
The goalie still may have to react to the shot, but he will not have to move as far to his sides to reach a puck shot to the corner of the net.
Goalies who play this way are often described as "big goalies" or "goalies who take up a lot of the net".

Lifetime Hockey Play - Odd player rush
A frequent defensive situation is the odd player rush where the offense has broken down and attackers break back across the neutral zone and they outnumber the defense.
The key for the D is to remember to keep an equal distance between the attackers with a bias toward the player without the puck.
However, if the D stays too close to the attacker with the puck they can make a quick pass to their teammate and the D will be unable to stop a rush to the net and a close in shot.

Street football - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Basically, when you are in a match and choose "rush goalie", it means that the goalie can come out but the 1st person on the same team must "rush" back to their goal to save the opposing team's shot.
Alternatively, especially when rush goalies are being used to ameliorate a difference in numbers, the side with more players may be forced to keep their goalkeeper in goal, known as stick goalie.
Stick goalies are not allowed to leave their (albeit vaguely-defined) penalty area to participate in attacks, as opposed to the rush goalie who is effectively an outfield player who can handle the ball with their hands in the penalty area.

Goalies with legs out in the split or butterfly position are vulnerable to having someone fall on their knee and injure it in the same fashion a football player is by a block or hit to the side of the knee.
In the PHA beginners' class, Mike Bruins had one exercise where he would blindfold the goalie and then skate to various nearby points, and the goalie was then supposed to skate to the correct point and face him.
