Feingold was born in Janesville, Wisconsin, to a Jewish family that had settled in the area in 1917.
Feingold, who had little name recognition in the state and was campaigning in a primary against a pair of millionaire opponents, adopted several proposals to gain the electorate's attention.
Feingold's comments were in response to a question about whether or not he supported a ballot initiative that Wisconsinites voted on in November of 2006, which incorporated a ban on same-sex marriage and all civil unions (same-sex or not) into the state constitution.

Every time Feingold asked if the President could conduct warrentless wiretaps, the AG would say that the question that he was asking was whether the President was breaking the law.
What Feingold should have done is go back to the transcripts from that hearing and reread the question to Gonzales, key on the word "warrentless." The question (I believe) was not whether the searches were legal or not, but whether they were warrentless or not.

In his (and your) zeal to GET BUSH, Feingold introduced a resolution of censure when there was doubt among even his own party and among the voters in general as to guilt.
If Feingold had gone to the Dem Sen. caucas, they would have talked about it, consulted their consultants, referred it to a committee, and finally decide it was a bad idea because they would be attacked for backing it.
I generally like Feingold, but the way he went about this shows that it's clearly a stunt, and that he essentially designed it to be unsuccessful, and to help only him and his presidential ambitions.
