Much as I want to thank Russell for being part of the Gang of 4 I don't think he gets how distorted the whole "border protection" logic and policy is, any more than the rest of the Liberal Party.
Border protection is supposed to be just one small part of a coherent, planned, thoughtful, humane, long-term population policy for a(ny) country.
