The Russian Catholic Church is a Byzantine Rite church sui juris of the Catholic Church.
As of 2006, Russian Catholics have no hierarchy; their few parishes are served by priests ordained in other Byzantine Catholic Churches, former Orthodox priests, and Roman Catholic priests with biritual faculties, many of them Jesuits.
The first Apostolic Exarchate for Russian Catholics was formed in 1917 with Leonid Feodorov, formerly a Russian Orthodox seminarian, as Exarch, but the Bolshevik Revolution soon followed, dispersing Russian Catholics into the Siberian GULAG and the centers of the Russian diaspora throughout the world.

Similar in many ways to the Catholic Church in Latin America, the Russian Orthodox Church feels wounded by the loss of many of her members and potential members to these other denominations which are foreign in their origins.
In order to appreciate the problematic which the Catholic Church is faced with in this aspect of her relations with Orthodoxy, an analysis of the concept of 'proselytism' and other connected conceptions might serve as a step in resolving some of the related confusion and ambiguity.
One of the challenges for the Orthodox Church and for its intellectuals is to distinguish between the various types and means of what is refered to as 'proselytism' (and which the Catholic mind might refer to as mission or evangelization).

I have a question as to which Eastern Catholic Church is the most eastern and traditional as in following the Orthodox traditions.
I would have to say the Russian Eastern Catholic parishes, St. Michael in New York and St. Andrew in Los Angeles are the most eastern and traditional even more than the Melkite parishes.
For many of us Ruthenian Catholics, who share a Byzantine tradition with our Orthodox brothers and sisters, we follow our Eastern Traditions because it is OUR Byzantine Catholic tradition, not to imitate the tradition of another communion of Christians, however dear to us they are.
