The Russian Federal Space Agency (Russian: Федеральное космическое агентство) (commonly known as Roskosmos), formerly the Russian Aviation and Space Agency (RKA; in Russian: Российское авиационно-космическое агентство, commonly known as Rosaviakosmos) is the government agency responsible for Russia's space science programme and general aerospace research.
The Russian Space Agency is one of the partners in the International Space Station (ISS) program, it contributed the core space modules Zarya and Zvezda, which were both launched by Proton rockets and later were joined by NASA's Unity Module.
During the 10 year space plan that was approved the budget shall increase between 5-10% per year thus providing the space agency with a strong and constant inflow of money.

The Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) has imposed a ban on launches of Soyuz rockets saying the rehearsal will be possible after results of the investigation into reasons of the recent accident with the Molniya-M booster are known, employee of Roscosmos press department Konstantin Kreydenko has said.
The next launch of the Russian rocket to the ISS is scheduled for the mid of September, when the Progress cargo aircraft is to deliver freight to the station.

The Russian Federal Space Agency has signed a deal with an American millionaire, Gregory Olsen, for a voyage in the Russian spacecraft Soyuz to the International Space Station to be made in October.
The Russian Federal Space Agency also sent American Dennis Tito and South African businessman Mark Shuttleworth to the International Space Station in 2001 and 2002, at a cost of about $20 million per person.
According to the agency's spokesperson, Olsen began receiving training for the mission near Moscow last year.
