  Global Derivatives Russian Options
Russian options are, although complicated sounding, not that complicated at all.
Russian options are essentially a generalised form of the American perpetual put option initially proposed by Shepp and Shiryaev (1993).
These options give the buyer of the option "reduced regret" if he or she fails to exercise the option at an earlier time when the option was greater in the money and are more expensive than many of its relatives.

 Russian Aspects
The only way to follow the kaleidoscope of Russian aspectual usage is to go behind the scene and imagine the kaleidoscope, so to speak, from the point of view of the speaker “projecting” it, to see him or her manipulating the aspects in terms of his or her larger purpose.
The listener/reader must be AWARE, in the background, of the options that the Russian speaker has at his disposal, of the aspectual palette, so to speak, available to him (except that the infinitely rich colors of her palette, that is, the actual morphological colors, are built out of the two primary, binary colors, i.e.
So, we see that the distinction between the Empirical Perfective and the Transcendental Imperfective is at the heart of Russian verbal discourse and demands the utmost concentration on the part of the foreigner as he seeks to follow the subtle objective and subjective shifts in meaning in the use of the aspects.

RIA Novosti - Opinion & analysis - SECOND OPTION FOR RUSSIAN-EUROPEAN RELATIONS
A major problem the Russian people and the Russian nation are facing is the relations with the EU, which embodies Europe in political, social and ideological terms.
Three hundred years ago, Russian Tsar Peter the Great plugged our country out of many-century stagnation and turned it towards the European development model, which was more successful in the technological, social and political respect.
Russian officials developed formal contacts with their European colleagues, particularly under Putin, but never asked themselves what they wanted from this Europe and these relations.

We propose a new {\em call} option where the option {\em seller pays} the {\em minimum} price (in {\em inflated} dollars) that the asset has ever traded at during the time period (which may be indefinitely long) between the {\em selling} time and the {\em delivery} time (to be chosen by the {\em seller}).
We give the exact simple formula for the optimal expected present value (fair price) that can be derived from the option and the (unique) optimal exercise strategy which achieves the optimum value under the assumption that the asset fluctuations follow the Black-Scholes exponential Brownian motion model, widely accepted.
We show that in both cases, puts or calls, the simpler option where the settlement is based on the {\em current} price at the time of exercise rather than on the maximum or minimum price to date (i.e.

Ukrainian-Russian "zero option" settlement is stalled (03/09/97)
KYIV - A Ukrainian delegation from the Cabinet of Ministers, meeting in Moscow with its Russian counterpart to resolve issues regarding the "zero option" settlement of the former Soviet Union's wealth, came away with nothing.
The group, led by Vice Prime Minister Viktor Pynzenyk and Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs Anton Buteiko, was in the Kremlin the week of March 3 to obtain specific numbers on the value of Soviet assets today in Russia's hands.
It also tasked the Cabinet delegation with having Moscow acknowledge that it still owes approximately $700 million to legal entities in Ukraine and $18 million to private individuals as agreed in the 1994 accord, money that was held in the Soviet Union's Vneshekonombank.

The necessary legal and policy instruments to end the war in Kosovo are now in place, after the major western states and Russia yesterday reached agreement on a resolution to go forward to the UN security council.
That agreement is not perfect, and it does not preclude tussles and even confrontations in the future, between Russia and Serbia on the one hand and the United States and the European Union on the other, over the arrangements on the ground in Kosovo.
Reflecting Russian sensibilities, the document does not directly mention Nato, but it carries as an annex to the earlier document taken by Viktor Chernomyrdin and Martti Ahtisaari to Belgrade, which does.

The owner of a Russian option receives the maximum value that the price of the underlying asset (a stock paying a continuous dividend yield) has ever achieved until whatever stopping time (which can be indefinitely long) he may select.
The Russian option is also said to be a no regret option: the holder may look at the fluctuations only occasionally and has no regret if he did not exercise the option at an earlier time.
We note that the Russian option is not currently traded in any existing market despite its appeal for the holder.

In the first chapter we consider four perpetual options of American type driven by a geometric Brownian motion: the American put and call, the Russian option and the integral option.
From a practical point of view perpetual options do not seem of much use, since in practice the time of expiration is always finite.
This is a class of jump-diffusions which is dense in all Lévy processes and whose positive and negative jumps form compound Poisson processes with jump distributions of phase type.
