Handbook of Texas Online: CATTLE RUSTLING
With county seats far apart, grand juries disinclined to indict, and trial juries reluctant to convict, early cattlemen often had to take law enforcement into their own hands in dealing with rustlers.
Rustling was not entirely stamped out, however, and in the 1930s it broke out in a new form.
The extent of this rustling and the fact that the thieves often crossed state lines led Congress in 1941 to pass the McCarran Act, which provided a maximum penalty of a $5,000 fine and five years in prison for transporting across state lines stolen cattle or meat from such cattle.

ALBANY — State Attorney General Eliot Spitzer says he’s sharpening his prosecutorial ax and is eager to take a swing at thieves swiping timber from the state Forest Preserve — a problem that’s increasing throughout the state.
A bill that would substantially increase fines for timber rustling on state lands has hit the skids in the State Senate, but officials there say it’s not because they don’t want violators prosecuted.
In fact, they claim, Spitzer’s legislation is too weak, potentially undermining the crime and bogged down by provisions that have nothing at all to do with stealing timber.

ITDG - East Africa - Displacements: resettle cattle rustling victims too   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-21)
Faith based leaders, human rights groups and politicians among others have voiced, and continue to voice their demand that the internally displaced persons (IDPs) should be resettled once and for all.
However, a critical scrutiny of the status of IDPs in Kenya infers that indeed a lot more people have been internally displaced in other parts of Kenya as a result of cattle rustling and resource premised conflicts contrary to what is in public domain.
As such, it is recommended that the discourse on IDPs and resettlement in Kenya should equally highlight the plight of people internally displaced by cattle rustling and resource based conflicts.

Senior Supt. Sahiron Dulah Salim, Bataan police director, said he has ordered municipal station commanders and police mobile patrol groups to tighten their watch on the rustling syndicate operating in the towns of Pilar, Hermosa, Orani and Sama.
Reports indicate that the rustling occurs more often during a barangay celebration or a town feast because cattle can be sold immediately at a price lower than that prevailing in the market.
Salim also asked residents to cooperate and report illegal sellers of animal meat in their vicinities to stop the thieves from plying their trade and victimizing poor owners of cattles, mostly small farmers.

ROSE RUSTLING ETIQUETTE From "The Texas Rose Rustlers"
We all love roses, and there is a special thrill that comes with acquiring cuttings from an interesting specimen that you encounter as you pursue your path through life.
First, if you are approaching your rose rustling in a serious and "professional" manner, it will build the confidence of the owner that you are not a criminal and that you are not involved in some sort of scam.
Second, the pictures and notes will help you document the cuttings, and they are very useful later when you are wondering (and trying to remember) what this strange little twig of a cutting will look like when it grows up.

Scientist at Purdue uses DNA evidence to solve 'tree rustling' case
Tree rustling, or tree poaching, a crime analogous to cattle rustling, occurs when trees are illegally taken from private or public lands.
They sneak onto a piece of property, cut the tree, remove it quickly and sell it, "said Keith Woeste, a molecular geneticist with the Hardwood Tree Improvement and Regeneration Center, a collaborative research effort between Purdue University and the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service.
Working in the USDA Forest Service Hardwood Tree Improvement and Regeneration Center at Purdue, Woeste ground the wood into a fine powder to extract enough DNA evidence to convince investigators the wood matched that of the stolen tree, which had been sold to a sawmill.

Upon discovering that the iBook was not stolen, rather than apologising and letting him go (and maybe leaving themselves open to a lawsuit), they charged him with "voltage rustling", that is with stealing electricity worth €0.002 from the owners of the railway station.
"Energy rustling" is clearly more accurate than either "voltage", "charge" or "power" rustling, but it has the problem of not making it obvious that the energy being rustled is in the form of electricity.
"Energy rustling" is the only term that makes sense to me, since the variable part of your electricity bill is determined by the how much energy you've used.
