		Such broadleaved woodlands as remain are mostly low-stature, secondary regrowth but support a number of smaller resident species, including Buff-breasted Babbler and Brown-cheeked Fulvetta.
		No birdwatcher ever manages to see all of these species on a single visit, and indeed the impossibility of predicting which of these or any other species one will encounter is something which merely adds to one's excitement and constant sense of anticipation.

	Thailand Tour Reports
		Although the northern mountains around Chiang Mai produced their expected diversity of birds, there were somewhat fewer species overall this year, perhaps due to the unusually cool weather, with thick fog on a couple of mornings.
		Spectacled Barwings and a host of other montane babblers were frequent, and delighted us due to their often confiding nature.
		Among the highlights from the mountains of the north were Giant Nutchatches in the towering pine trees on Doi Chiang Dao, Rusty-cheeked Scimitar babblers, Red-faced Liocichlas, Spot-breasted Parrotbills and Buff-throated Warblers feeding on the open, scrubby, sunlit eastern slopes of Doi Angkhang.

		The religious buildings made of stone are all that remain of a vast royal capital that was built between 1057 and 1287.
		Bay Woodpeckers give themselves away with their noisy calls, Streak-breasted Scimitar Babbler, Red-faced Liocichla, and Blue-winged Laughingthrushes lurk in the shrubbery while Grey Treepies work their way furtively through the bushes.
		After the morning spent birding near Kalaw, next day we drive to the beautiful Lake Inle which is famous for its peculiar leg-rowers who propel their flat-bottomed boats by standing at the stern on one leg and wrapping the other leg around the oar.

		Every so often we come across a mixed frenzy of warblers, bulbuls and babblers moving through the forest, suddenly moving on as quickly as they appeared.
		Forktails haunt the streams, sunbirds and Flowerpeckers zip between the giant trees.
		As we follow a boardwalk around a sphagnum moss bog we'll look for shy skulkers such as White-browed Shortwing, Dark-sided, Chestnut and Gray-sided Thrushes, Red-flanked Bluetail, Snowy-browed Flycatcher and Chestnut-crowned Laughingthrush.

		These diverse, rich and lovely habitat support most of the countries breeding birds, globally threatened birds, and Bhutan’s restricted range birds The Buddhist culture, which respects all forms of life, is an added factor which has resulted in an avifauna that is remarkably visible, approachable, and diverse.
		Some of the rare species which I targetted were: Rufous–necked Hornbill, Beautiful Nuthatch, White- bellied heron, Satyr Tragopan, Yellow- rumped Honeyguide, Rufous- throated Wren Babbler, Red-headed Parotbills.
		Western Bhutan is made up of the valleys of Ha,(2700 m), Paro, (2200 m), and Thimpu, (2300 m) - the capital of Bhutan, is the center of government, religion and commerce.

	Birdfinders - Birdwatching Holidays - Nepal

	Indial Trip Report
		We also paid a visit to the local store - Changla Shop - where we bought sweets for the local kids and some Tiger beers for us.
		In total today we saw 58 bird species of which the following were lifers - GREY-FACED WOODPECKER, BLUE-BEARDED BEE-EATER, INDIAN CUCKOO, SHORT-BILLED MINIVET, SPANGLED DRONGO, YELLOW-CHEEKED TIT, WHITE-SPECTACLED WARBLER, GREY-CHEEKED WARBLER, BROAD-BILLED WARBLER, RUFOUS-NECKED LAUGHINGTHRUSH, RUFOUS-CAPPED BABBLER, GOLDEN BABBLER, CUTIA, BLUE-WINGED MINLA and the Near Threatened YELLOW-THROATED FULVETTA.
		We also saw a Little Pied Flycatcher in the trees above the forest so Elize and I caught up one species on Jo again.
