The Division of Global Affairs at Rutgers University-Newark (housed in the Center for Law and Justice) in 2005 succeeded the Center for Global Change and Governance, established in 1995 as a freestanding graduate-level institution independent of any school or department at Rutgers University.
The DGA's approach to Global Affairs is strongly multidisciplinary and professional, drawing on the research, teaching excellence, and expertise of a distinguished core faculty and associated faculty representing most of RU-N’s departments and schools, including anthropology, criminal justice, economics, history, law, management, political science, public administration, sociology, and biology.
The Center administers Master’s and Ph.D. programs in global affairs, conducts research on the causes and consequences of globalization, and serves as the focus of the University's outreach to government, business, professional, and NGO communities with global concerns.

Rutgers University-Newark and New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) announce two, new joint degrees in History - the Master of Arts (M.A.) and Master of Arts for Teachers (M.A.T.) - with a new field of concentration in the History of Technology, Environment and Medicine.
The History Federation is part of a larger partnership initiative between NJIT and Rutgers-Newark that enables them to offer a singularly broad and dynamic program of graduate training and research in the history of technology, environment and medicine.
