Ruth Richardson (born December 13, 1950) served as New Zealand's Minister of Finance from 1990 to 1993, and is known for her strong pursuit of radical economic reforms (sometimes known as "Ruthanasia").
Richardson was born in southern Taranaki on 13 December 1950.
Ruth Richardson left parliament the following year, although continued to be involved in politics through her advocacy of the ACT New Zealand party.

While Richardson kept a copy of “If This Is A Man” in her “Cabaret” dressing room, she surrounded herself with Gruber’s books for inspiration on “Haven.” She also met for tea with the 89-year-old journalist to quiz her about how she dealt with the sexism and anti-Semitism of U.S. officials circa 1944.

Ruth Marie Clough, the daughter of Charles and Bess (Crist) Clough, was born on May 24, 1913 in Oakland, Calif., where she spent her childhood, received her secondary education and grew to adulthood.
On June 27, 1943, Ruth was united in marriage with the love of her life, Fred Richardson, in Visalia, Calif. Before Fred's death on Feb. 16, 2002, he and Ruth had the joy and privilege to share 58 wonderful years of marriage.

As the nightclub hostess of a seedy London dive in the 1950s, Ruth Ellis would have been putting on an act for a lot of the time anyway, and Richardson, with her hilarious mock-BBC accent and arch mannerisms, was bringing that to life superbly.
She is brilliantly matched by the great Ian Holm and (for once) Rupert Everett acts his socks off and provides a blinder of a performance as the man that Ruth that loves and eventually murders.
The acting on most accounts is excellant and Miranda Richardson excells in cleverly portraying the frame of mind that the young woman was in.
