 | | I have very often observed this curious region of the lunar world, and I have made a large number of drawings, of which the most complete are those of July 31, 1873; August 1, October 29, November 27 of the same year; and April 24, 1874. |
 | | The assiduous observation of a great number of other lunar points, notably of the two twin craters of Messier, of the white hillock Linne, of the streaks which cross the arena of the great dark ampitheatre of Plato, lead us to admit the probability, if not the certainty, of actual variations. |
 | | To deny these new deductions it would be necessary to admit that all observers of the moon, well known for the care which they have taken in their studies, and for the precision which they have always attained, have seen so badly every time that we do not understand the observed facts. |
