Briscoe was driving in only in his second grand prix weekend as the third driver for Toyota, allowing him to participate in Friday practice sessions.
Briscoe was 10th of the 25 drivers on the track in that session, with Zonta 14th and Panis 15th.
Briscoe's Toyota speared right where the track went left, the car hit the end of a wall and catapulted across the track coming to rest at the top of the rise.

Ryan Briscoe (born September 24, 1981) is an Australian auto racing driver.
In 2005 Briscoe raced for Target Chip Ganassi Racing in the Indy Racing League until September 11, 2005 when he was involved in an enormous crash at Chicagoland Speedway, breaking both clavicles among other injuries.
Briscoe has been dropped by Ganassi for 2006, replaced by 2005 IRL champion Dan Weldon.

We were fortunate enough to talk to Ryan a little bit earlier today as part of the group of drivers that are both newcomers to the series and will compete for the Rookie-of-the-Year award.
As far as the team, with the addition of Ryan and a third car, has been huge so far in the testing that we have done, as Mike said, with different testing programs that we've had.
