 RTE News - Gardaí speak with mother of baby found dead in Cork
Gardaí investigating the discovery of the body of a newborn baby in County Cork have made contact with the mother.
The infant's body was found at a housing estate in the village of Rylane yesterday afternoon.
Gardaí have described the death as very tragic and the child's mother is to be offered counselling by Health Board staff.

He packed the arena again when he defended the title against Neville Brown and then, last January, when everyone had thought boxing had move away from the Millstreet venue, Rylane Boxing Club drew more than 2,000 fans for what was one of the biggest amateur shows ever staged in this country.
It is rarely full internationals move outside of Dublin but Rylane Boxing Club have been given the honour of promoting this one.

 MiWadi - Cultural Awards - Introduction
There is huge excitement in the little village of Rylane in North Cork this week following the news that the pupils of Rylane National School won not only the Regional Award for Munster, but also the overall prize in the 2003 MiWadi Cultural Awards.
The 9 lucky winners came up to a special ceremony in Dublin last week, where they were presented with their lovely awards and €2000 for their school by Eileen Dunne from RTE and Jane Fortune from MiWadi.
The students had done their project on their local heroes in Rylane - these included an All-Ireland weight lifter, an All-Ireland Plough champion, an All-Ireland camogie-player champion and the oldest man in Rylane, who is 90 years old!

Leave the main route for a few minutes and turn right at the crossroads.
On the road from Millstreet to Rylane is a large stone on the left hand side of the road which was used long ago by carters from Kerry travelling to Cork with cargoes of butter for export.
They used to stop here to eat, thus getting its name 'The Kerryman's Table'.

The Millstreet /Rylane road crosses the Kilcorney/Macroom road one-mile beyond Aubane Cross on the southern shoulder of Musheramore.
This crossroad was once known as Clochaneer Cross, but the name is little used nowadays.
Approximately 175 yards on the Rylane side of this crossroad one finds a very large stone set into the northern fence in the form of a seat or table, measuring 9 feet long, 1½ feet wide and about 2½ feet high.
