Ster Century was a cinema company in the UK and Ireland.
Ster Century's first cinema was opened in 1998 in parnetship with Assos Odeon, a cinema company based in Greece, under the name Ster Odeon.
By mid 2002 Ster Century had sold off its interests in Poland, Greece, Hungary and the Czech Republic to concentrate on its operations in the UK and Ireland.

The newly founded Ster Century entered into partnership with Assos Odeon, a cinema exhibition company in Greece, and opened its first multiplex cinema in 1998 under the name of Ster Odeon.

Ster Kinekor also reported that over the past six months movie-going audiences have declined by five percent which means there were people paying R35 a movie previously who've stopped.
In a new countrywide branding campaign Ster Kinekor will be renaming 80 percent of their cinema's Ster Kinekor Junction, which is where the R14 deals will happen, while the other 20 percent will be called Ster Kinekor Classic where prices will remain the R35-same.
Front page news of The Argus on Wednesday (16 March, 2005) was that as from Friday 18 March the price of Ster Kinekor movie tickets at most of their cinemas will be chopped by more than half.

I know Ster Kinekor do it too with the Junction versus a few Select Others, but because I'm currently liking them I don't mind and most of their cinemas are now Junction anyway.
Nu Metro knew what Ster Kinekor had done and that everyone would assume their promise was similar.
The really iffy thing of it is that when Ster Kinekor announced their new reduced prices I thought it was too good to be true.
