 Destroyer
Destroyers were involved in the skirmishes that prompted the Battle of Heligoland Bight, and filled a range of roles in the Battle of Gallipoli, acting as troops transports and fire support vessels, as well as their fleet-screening role.
By this time the destroyers had become large, multi-purpose vessels, expensive targets in their own right rather than expendable vessels for the protection of others; moreover, they were one of the most sunk kinds of ships even though they were mass produced.
The destroyers (as well as frigates) are, as always, the workhorses of the fleet, the former optimised for air defence and the latter for surface and subsurface warfare.

The blocked vehicles were then destroyed by handgrenades, bazooka, tank, and artillery fire and large numbers of enemy personnel were wiped out by a bold and resolute bayonet charge inspired by Sgt. Whittington.
When the flanking fire became more intense he ran to a nearby tank and exposing himself on the turret, restored a jammed machinegun to operating efficiency and used it so effectively that the enemy fire from an adjacent ridge was materially reduced thus permitting the battalion to occupy its objective.

Germany was also limited to a 12 destroyer fleet by the Treaty of Versailles, so the destroyers built were supposed to be bigger and more capable than those of World War I. The destroyer was plagued with problems due to Germany's inexperience with naval design and construction.
To spawn a destroyer a player must have the rank of Lieutenant or higher in his respective navy.
In closing, the destroyer is easily the most powerful unit on the WWII Online battlefield, and is restricted only by it's need to travel on the sea - thus keeping its guns away from 95% of the towns on the map.

 (1936 - 1958) U & V Class
One U Class submarine that is famous for the part it played during the Second World War is the Vickers-built Upholder, which probably had the finest fighting record of any Allied submarine of the period.
The resultant V Class were slightly longer than the U boats and, because of a partly-welded pressure hull, had a greater operational depth - 300 feet as opposed to 200 feet.
None of the 22 V Class submarines built were lost during the war, and the lead ship, HMS Venturer, distinguished herself by sinking two German submarines, one in November 1944, the other in February 1945.

The two newest classes of Star Destroyers, the Imperial class and the Super class, are found exclusively in the Imperial fleet.
An older model, the Victory class, dates back to the end of the Clone Wars and can be found in service among system defense and large corporate constabulary fleets.
Though the Super Star Destroyer is approximately five times as powerful as its smaller predecessor, the few currently in service are not primarily used as combat starships.

The Venator-class Star Destroyer was one of several wedge-ship designs to come out of the development think-tank led by engineer Lira Blissex.
Its surface was dotted with eight heavy turbolasers, two medium dual turbolaser cannons, 52 point-defense laser cannons, four proton torpedo tubes and six tractor beam projectors.
After Blissex's marriage to Denn Wessex, one of Palpatine's first regional governors to be installed, she used her newfound political clout to prioritize the expansion of the Star Destroyer program.

 Asset Tracking | Imperial | A
Roek, as an admiral in command of a Super Star Destroyer, is unlikely to have voluntarily given up his command even for a Grand Admiral, especially since Roek was obviously loyal to the Empire proper, and it's very close to treason to hand over a warship like Aggressor to a breakaway faction.
Prior to SWI66, Aggressor was the sole Star Destroyer which she could have used; it fit the required profile nicely as well, and the name itself was even mentioned by Loor.
This means that either the Super Star Destroyer (from now on I'm going to refer to it as Aggressor II to save my sanity at least a little bit) was completed prior to the Battle of Endor, or that construction on it was begun after that book.

The Battle class were conceived in 1941, initially out of a request from the Prime Minister (Winston Churchill) for steps to be taken to counteract the JU 87's.

The disposal of MATAPAN in 1979 was the closing curtain on a class of ships which had first entered service 34 years before, had suffered the ups-and-downs of various defence cuts and policy changes, and had provided the core of the Royal Navy's destroyer strength during the late 1950's and early 1960's.
