	S2 programming language - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		S2 (Style System 2) is an object-oriented programming language developed in the late 1990s by Brad Fitzpatrick, Martin "Mart" Atkins, and others for the picture-hosting website code FotoBilder as well as the online journalling service LiveJournal in order to allow users full control over the appearance of their pages.
		S2 source code is compiled into Perl, which the webserver can then execute directly for individual web page requests.
		A distinguishing feature of S2 is that source code is organised into individual layers, of which there are six different types (core, i18nc, layout, i18n, theme and user).

	Fuji S2 Pro
		Surprisingly there is no vertical shutter release on the S2 Pro, and the position where one would normally be located is taken by the holder space for the two CR-123A lithium batteries used to power the flash and autofocus.
		Battery power on the S2 Pro is provided by both 4 AA cells in a removable tray in the base and also 2 CR-123A batteries.
		What I see from the S2 are lovely, clean images that up to ISO 400 are comparable to those from the Canon 10D, but at higher ISOs and very long exposure times the newer Canon has a slight the edge because of lower noise.

		One could show me comparative out-of-camera images between the two cameras and prove the S2 is better in that case, but someone else could do the same thing with other photos, and yet come up with different results, favoring the D100.
		At the time they were making the S2, SmartMedia was slowly being extinguished, and I wonder why Fuji decided to keep this slot, and didn't include an addition CF slot instead.
		If you have your S2 Manual handy, the last few sections on Page 25 are carefully worded to not make you think about the consequences of only using your AA batteries.

		The S2 still has that separation of digital and camera shooting controls, but I think now we're learning that most of the objection to that original S1 design really had something to do with the body upon which it was built.
		Noise on the S2 Pro is also significantly higher on long exposures than it is on the D100 with noise reduction ON, though my body does not seem at all prone to hot pixels on long exposures (I've taken 5 minute exposures that haven't had more than a half dozen hot pixels that needed fixing).
		The S2 Pro is a bit bigger than the D100, but it's easier to hold steady with one hand due to the plastic molding on the right side of the camera back.

		The S2 has a tiny bit more resolution, costs more, is less convenient for heavy shooting since it needs two kinds of batteries and is a bit slower than the obsolete D100 on which it is based.
		This is because even at "native" resolutions digital still cameras are still Bayer interpolating, meaning if you downsample to this resolution as the S2 does that it looks much better than cameras which have this as their native resolution.
		For my uses I would prefer the D70, and since it costs only half as much as the S2 and is more practical for me. The only real advantage of the S2 is very slightly higher image resolution, which to me is much less significant than all the other disadvantages.
