SABC was founded in 1943 with the purpose of providing a place where people can reflect on Jesus Christ and begin or grow in a personal relationship with Him.
It has grown from a one-week summer camp, to a year round center that operates summer camps for over 1700 campers and provides first class facilities for groups during the months from September to June.
SABC is available for rental groups from the end of August to the middle of June.

SABC 1 carried much of its programming over from the defunct CCV (Contemporary Community Values) channel, which was itself made up of the old TV2, TV3 and TV4 channels created in the 1980s.
SABC 1 took over the frequency used by TV1, the main SABC channel since the launch of television in 1976.

So when you air a programme on SABC 3, you are not looking for the greatest participation overall, you are looking for the greatest participation by the rich end of this nation - the wealthy whom the advertisers target.
SABC 1 is aimed at the younger, trendier set, with its news bulletins focusing on the Nguni group of isiXhosa and isiZulu-speaking people.
Thus, while the SABC had this great idea to allow South Africans to choose their greatest leaders or icons, financial considerations messed this idea up, and now we have a situation where, with the money having rolled in, the outcome is politically unacceptable and indefensible.

 SABC may use 'Tshwane' on TV
In response, the SABC said it had been vindicated in its opinion that there was nothing peculiar about the use of the word and that Pretoria had always been known as Tshwane.
The complaint against the SABC was brought before the commission by the Democratic Alliance, the Freedom Front Plus and lobby groups who argued the broadcaster was misleading the public as the name had not yet been made official.
The SABC, however, denied breaching the BCC code, maintaining that its use of the name Tshwane was not a distortion, an exaggeration or a misrepresentation.

The freelance cameraman that was accused by SABC of not filming the booing of the Deputy President Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka is reported to be considering legal action against SABC.
SABC's responce to this was to accuse e-tv's report of creating the perception the public broadcaster was biased and that e.tv was bitter over the profits SABC had made.
