South Korea's ambassador to Iraq, Im Hong-jae, who met the seven missionaries, said they had been given food and drink by their captors, said Lee Kwang-jae, director general of Middle Eastern Affairs at the Foreign Ministry.

One of the highlights of my time in Korea came when a small group of us went to Hwagyesa, a Buddhist temple up in the mountains in the north side of Seoul.
Having lived in Seoul only just long enough to have become accustomed to the constant roar of the city, it was a mystical experience for me. The entire temple grounds were completely silent but for the sound of running water and the occasional chanting just at the threshhold of hearing.
