CORDIS: Austrian Council presidency: Showcases: SECOQC - 'Development of a Global Network for Secure Communication ...
SECOQC will lay the cornerstone for a global high-security communications network by advancing experimental quantum technology research and connecting it with cryptography, network technology, and other IT related disciplines.
Within SECOQC the basis will be laid for a long-range high security communication network that combines the entirely novel technology of quantum key distribution with components of classical computer science and cryptography.
The work within SECOQC will be carried out in two main activity blocks - one covering the quantum physical devices, the other dealing with the design and set-up of the infrastructure - covering the topics of security, communication networks, system integration and user requirements.
