Not all members of SFWA are against the war, and it would be inappropriate for the Board of Directors to issue statements on their behalf - particularly since this issue is entirely "off topic".
SFWA's by-laws state that the organization exists "to promote the furtherance of the writing of science fiction, fantasy and related genres..." There's nothing in the by-laws that empowers the organization to support or oppose any social causes.
But SFWA would be wise and well-served to stick to its stated purpose: promoting science fiction and the professional health of its writers.

 The Lem Affair (Continued)
This is to clarify certain matters pertaining to the ouster of Stanislaw Lem from the SFWA.
When Philip José Farmer wrote to SFWA saying that he and I (Philip K. Dick) would resign from SFWA if Lem were admitted on a regular dues-paying basis, he was speaking both unethically and perhaps even illegally, inasmuch as he had never discussed this matter with me at all.
These members are considered permanently qualified for active SFWA membership (they must pay dues, like the other members), while other members must keep up their credentials to remain active.

SFWA mainly acts as a platform for individuals to do volunteer work, hopefully to advance the causes of sf/f writers.

How influential SFWA (or any writing group) is with influencing the publishing industry is debatable, but that doesn't prevent them from working for fair contracts and fair dealings with authors.
There are some writers who actually make their living from writing the stuff, and it dilutes the prestige and clout of the organization when it is composed of a larger number of writers who are more akin to hobbyists.

The legitimate argument underlying some of that irritating rhetoric is that SFWA is an organization of working professional writers, and as such is free to define for itself "working professional."
