	SHODAN
		SHODAN was hacked by the game's protagonist at gunpoint and its ethical restictions removed, an act that started a process that eventually resulted in the AI going crazy, seizing control of the station's systems, robots and considerable defenses, and either slaughtering the whole staff of the station or converting them into mutants and cyborgs.
		Although as a cybernetic entity SHODAN has no conventional biological needs nor traditional gender identity, and in the disc version of the game it is referred to either as an it or a he, referring to SHODAN as a he while speaking to a System Shock fan is in all likelihood a serious faux pas.
		SHODAN manifests herself as a green and/or grey female cybernetic face that usually wears a malevolent expression, and speaks (in the CD version) with a voice that has been described as "oscillating between Alice in Wonderland and the Wicked Witch of the West." SHODAN is given voice by former Tribe keyboardist and vocalist, Terri Brosius.

		In some dojo shodan may be one of the higher ranked kenshi and as such would have more input.
		I think that all kenshi should get respect as long as they deserve respect by their actions, but in terms of the type of respect a sensei or high ranked kenshi gets it is not the same level of respect.

		I've seen people acheive shodan after a grading which convinced me that their conduct at previous training was all that was being taken into account (They did technique for fifteen minutes..).
		I think shodan is regarded as more of a minor thing in some aikido schools than in other martial arts, though.
		You could meet the requirements to test for shodan in 3 years, but I don't think the basics and ukemi would be very solid yet.

	Shodan: Student or Master?
		They have learned the mechanics of the required techniques, they are able to pass these techniques on to the junior students in the dojo but they are a far cry from a master.
		The person that has attained the rank of Shodan should be consistent with the execution of their techniques; they should have a good knowledge of all of the techniques and the mechanics that make those techniques work.
		The perspective Shodan should be of good character and a role model for others to follow.

		I took my shodan in August and the whole test took approximatley 2 hours...but bare in mind there were 11 people up there with me.....so i gues my actual 'performance' took no longer than 15 minutes in total.
		I think this is because a shodan test is really only the icing on the cake....what makes a shodan is not what he or she can pull off in a grading, under examination conditions, but all of the work he or she has put in in order get to that point of grading.
		IOW, despite my flaws, they felt I was where I should be for a shodan examination and that with the exception of a few very general areas of growth that they gave me to work on, that I had the tools to improve myself.

		Strangely, it is a megalomanic AI called shodan, saying things like 'you will do as I tell you, insect'.
		Shodan: "Look at you, hacker: a pathetic creature of meat and bone, panting and sweating as you run through my corridors.
		Command & conquer generals has a challenge mode that gives you some trash talk which I think is rather corny, but I still like the almost cartoonish voice acting and it did inspire me to try to beat them, even though initially I didn't like the game mode at all.

		For once, the laser on the picture contributes with more that it destroys, but it still looks a bit odd [3.5].
		It might look unfair, but the Shodan got just slightly more than half armor of the Raider and it got only half the speed and less turnrate, making this unit to have almost the same movement settings as the big tanks.

		I found the two games were almost entirely unrelated except for the name and the trivial presence of Shodan in the second one.
		I mostly find the comparison between the two games interesting, because when people talk (or rather talked - the game's getting old now) about System Shock 2 as a great game, they usually said "Shodan this Shodan that", even though she was a bit player at best in that game.
		SHODAN was popular because of her voice acting ("In in innnnnnnsect..."), but Marathon's AIs were actually way more detailed and creepy.
