  Units: The International System
For example, the SI unit of force, the newton, is defined to be the force that accelerates a mass of one kilogram at the rate of one meter per second per second.
These units are supposed to be "defined in relation to the SI in every document in which they are used," and "their use is not encouraged." These barely-tolerated units might well be prohibited by future meetings of the CGPM.
The SI does not allow these prefixes to be used for binary multiples, such as the use of "kilobit" to mean 1024 bits instead of 1000.

SI - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The SI is not static; it is a living set of standards where units are created and definitions are modified with international agreement as measurement technology progresses.
Since most non-SI units, such as the U.S. customary units, are nowadays defined in terms of SI units, any change in the definition of the SI units results in a change of the definition of the older units as well.

SI prefix - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
SI defines a number of SI prefixes to be used with the units: these combine with any unit name to give subdivisions and multiples.
Thus the SI prefixes provide steps of a factor one million instead of one thousand in the case of an exponent 2, of a billion in the case of an exponent 3, etc. As a result large numbers may be needed, even if the prefixes are fully used.
Use outside SI The symbol "K" is often used to mean a multiple of a thousand, so one may talk of "a 40K salary" (40,000), or the Y2K problem.

This is the case because even though a trust may meet the requirements for an exception to counting under the statutory provisions of section 1613(e) of the Act, a revocable trust may still meet the definition of a resource and be countable.
If a revocable trust previously not counted under the policy in effect 1/1/2000 – 1/31/2001 is now found to be a countable resource under SI 01120.200, we will not reopen the case retroactively, but will count the trust as a resource prospectively beginning with 2/1/2001.

Just how different silicon is shows up in the equilibrium structure of Si In a triumph of computational chemistry (not by me, alas), Si was predicted to have the striking nonclassical dibridged structure, which was then confirmed experimentally.
The exception is Si–O (and Si–F), which is nearly 100 kJ per mol stronger than C–O. Coupled to the unhappiness of Si with unsaturation, silicon's love of oxygen leads to an overwhelming difference between a world of CO multiple bonds and the universe of silicates.
