 Fong Sai Yuk
Supporting this commanding central performance is Josephine Siao who very nearly steals the whole film with her super-fighting matriarch role and, at this later stage of her career, adds another fine string to her bow.
Further adventures await Fong when he enters a martial arts contest organised by Tiger Lei - a former bandit who is hoping to become a prominent businessman in Canton - and purposely loses after mistaking one of Lei's maids as the prize.
Fong Sai Yuk enjoys the benefits of being young, part of an influential local family and one of the best fighters in Canton.

Movie: The Legend of Fong Sai Yuk
Josephine was very funny, especially as Fong Tai Yuk. One memorable scene is when she was selling cloth to the foreigner and got ripped off.
Fong’s mother feels sorry for her and pretends that she is Fong Tai Yuk. Fong Tai Yuk declares that he love Tiger Lu’s wife.
Fong’s father is mad at his wife for being rude to customers and mad at Sai Yuk for lying to the officials.

 Fong Sai-Yuk (1993)
Even more, his supermom (Josephine Siao) dresses up like a man to try to bail out her son, and ends up winning the affections of Fong's new mother-in-law (Sibelle Hu).
Fong Sai-Yuk is loaded with intricately choreographed classic set pieces, including a famous fight atop the heads of a crowd, and a showdown between Wong Fei-Hongs Jet Li and Zhao Wen-Zhou.
It's about legendary hero Fong Sai-Yuk, who was a member of the Red Flower Society, a secret society who desired to take back the country from the Manchu-run Ching Dynasty.

JL2H: The Jet Lee (Li) Homepage: Fong Sai Yuk 2 (1993)
Fong Sai Yuk II is not better than it's prequel Fong Sai Yuk. But of course we are not to compare movies, because each has it's own uniqueness.
Young hero Fong Sai-Yuk (Jet Li) is initiated into the secret Red Lotus Society, a group dedicated to the overthrow of the Qing emperor and the restoration of the Ming dynasty.
The social upheaval is complicated by Fong Sai Yuk's personal moral conflict about how to conform to the rigid regime of the brotherhood--not to mention his difficult love life, saddled as he is with two high-maintenance wives.

 Jet Li Filmography
Rosaline Siao steals the show as Mother Fong/Fong Dai Yuk, although Jet's comic talent cannot be overlooked.
: Teenager Fong Sai Yuk (Jet Li) and his martial arts master mom (Rosaline Siao) get into trouble with the local governor, whose daughter (Michelle Reis) they have won in a martial arts contest.
Fong Sai Yuk is actually a legendary hero in Chinese folklore, but this fictionalized version of Fong's youth is quite fun to watch.

Fong Sai Yuk's love interest (Michelle Reis) has followed her man, and it's not long before his mother (Josephine Siao Fong-Fong, for many the real star of FSY1) turns up to make sure her son is getting by.
When Fong Sai Yuk is sent on a mission to recover a secret box from the Japanese, he meets a beautiful governer's daughter (Amy Kwok) who falls for him.
Since the box ends up in her dad's hands, Fong Sai Yuk is sent on a mission he never expected - to seduce the daughter and get the box back.

CultureDose.net - Corey Yuen - - Fong Sai Yuk Movies Review
Wong and Fong were essentially the same side of the coin—both were fiercely loyal to the Han race, both were masters of various forms of Kung Fu, both opposed the corrupt Manchu dynasty, and now both have been romanticized on the big screen and brought to life by Jet Li.
Fong and Tiger Lu’s wife battle back and forth, going as far as to fight while standing on the heads and shoulders of the audience in one of the film’s more amazing (and amusing) action sequences.
Fong Sai Yuk has recently been released here in the States (under the title Legend) and shouldn’t be difficult to find.

 Fong Sai Yuk II (1993)
One flashback sequence with Corey Yuen and Josephine Siao in flowery attire is a blatant nod to the old black and white serial films of the '30s and '40s.
Although garbled in translation, Siao's cross-dressing stint as a Japanese swordsman is a reference to Japan's number one folk hero, Miyamoto Musashi, played by Toshiro Mifune in three films beginning with Samurai I: Musashi Miyamoto.
Scenes like the acupressure fight with the bees, the burning body of a monk (which I suppose shouldn't be funny, but it is blatantly a dummy), and when Sai-yuk's mother is "pregnant," are all too often a movie-ruining factor in which no actual comedy is salvageable.

 Fong Sai Yuk 2
A lot more comedy has been infused into this film, which ultimately ruined the film, but there were some truly funny moments, especially the hilarious relationship between Fong and his mother (played by Josephine Siao), and the scenes between Fong, Ting Ting, and An-ye.
However, An-ye has fallen in love with Fong, and her request is that he must wed her before getting the box.
This sequel carries on from where the first part left off: Fong had enlisted into the Red Flower Society and is now under the leadership of Chan Kar Lok (Adam Cheng).

 cityonfire.com Fong Sai Yuk II
Jet Li, Michelle Reis, and Josephine Siao all return as the title character, his puppy-dog eyed fiancee Ting Ting, and his ass-kicking mom, respectively.
Jet's battle with a gang of spearmen and the bamboo raft sequence are plenty cool, and the scene where he straps about a dozen swords to his body, blindfolds himself, and slashes his way through a gauntlet of friends turned enemies is spiffy as well.
The movie is dragged down a bit by a lame subplot where Fong must court some rich daddy's girl to get his hands on a sacred box with a valuable secret inside.

 Fong Sai Yuk (1993)
Siao and Li have great chemistry onscreen as mother and son who seem to be more like brother and sister constantly getting into trouble behind father's back.
Josephine Siao, a long time Hong Kong actress steals the show as Sai Yuk's mischievous mother.
Later, Sai Yuk and his mother, Miu Tsui-fa (Josephine Siao) discover that his austere father in secretly involved with the rebels.

A Better Tomorrow - Review: Fong Sai Yuk
Josephine Siao Fong-Fong is clearly his mother -- fiercely protective of her son and her family's honor (despite the physical beating she takes from her husband).
Performances: Jet Li as Fong Sai Yuk is the flip side of his portrayal of Wong Fei-Hung in the Once Upon a Time in China I -- loose and silly, but also capable of brutal action when needed.
The film's original theatrical trailer and also trailers for Fong Sai Yuk II and Tai Chi Master are included.

 Fong Sai-Yuk (1993) - RUTHLESS REVIEWS: Movies
Sai Yuk lost the Kung Fu match on purpose but is being forced to marry Ting-Ting anyway because Sai Yuk's mom (The really funny Josephine Siao) posed as Fong Tai Yuk, Sai Yuk's nonexistent brother and beat Mrs.
Fong Sai Yuk is about a legendary Kung Fu master who helped his father and the secret Red Flower Society rise up against an evil emperor.
The fight scenes throughout the rest of Fong Sai Yuk are cool, but they never approach the level of the head fighting again.

 Fong Sai-Yuk
While that mess gets untangled, another brews when the family learns that patriarch Fong is a member of the notorious rebel Red Lotus Society, a group the governor has vowed to destroy with the help of Tiger Lei.
This leaves the son to figure out how to save his father from losing his head to the vengeful official who makes some pretty tough demands of Sai-Yuk. The story's climax involves a major confrontation between the governor, Sai-Yuk, his lady, his crazy mother and a town full of irate citizens.
Back again to the romantic travails, after much confusion, Sai-Yuk Fong and Ting Ting agree to marry and begin preparing for their wedding.
