In 1949 the nomenclature used by SIG for this pistol changed to "P210", and the first variation of the pistol is known as the "P210-1".
The P210-7 is a.22 rimfire version of the P210, although it is usually encountered as an add-on slide and barrel for the P210-5 or -6.

A report from Switzerland concerning a major slide fracture in a SIG Sauer P229 in the area immediately at the forward edge of the ejection port...
The response of SIG Sauer representative SAN and the Sauer rep from Germany was that they were willing to exchange, under warranty, the slides on that entire series of pistols.
We've found that quality in general deteriorated with SIG Sauer in the last couple of years, basically since the arms factory was sold from Switzerland to a German owner.

We had decided that I would bring my GLOCK-17 and SIG P210-6 and he his Sphinx 3000 Standard and his SIG P226, we fired 100 rounds through each gun, noted many of the results and cleaned the 4 pistols together.
The P210 could keep up to some degree, in slow single round fire series, but was not even close when multiple shoot series were involved.
Sure with the P210 we could match these score, but no way the short amounts of time it took with the 3000 to fire each series.
