		Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), is a key university in China.

		For example, we signed an agreement with SJTU to create a collaboration in chemical genomics that will screen through tens of thousands of chemical compounds to identify their properties and their usefulness for pharmaceuticals.

	UMHS News - Memorandum of Understanding
		SJTU and UMMS expect to form a working committee that will oversee the collaboration, which covers areas such as infrastructure; premedical, basic science and clinical curriculum development; faculty development; student and faculty rotations; and philanthropy.

		The trip was highlighted by an agreement between SJTU and Georgia Tech that will allow students of SJTU to receive dual master’s degrees from both institutions.
		SJTU students can simultaneously receive a non-thesis master’s (MS) degree from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at Georgia Tech and a thesis MS degree from the School of Electronic, Information, and Electrical Engineering (EIEE) at SJTU.
		The timing is right for the development of this partnership between Georgia Tech and SJTU, and we expect it to grow in the future.

	110 Anniversary for SJTU
		Today, April 8, 2006, is the 110th anniversary of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), where I spent my 4 years between 1995 to 1999.
		I didn't realize I would appreciate the 4 years in SJTU that much when I was a student.
		In the final year I studied in SJTU, it happened to be her hundredth anniversary.

		Specifially, the top 300 universities from the SJTU league table are ranked here by the number of pages linking to each university from the other 299 universities, as found by Google.
		Here's the chart showing the fuzzy cluster group membership for all 500 universities in the SJTU global university ranking. This chart starkly illustrates that only the top 12 universities in the SJTU ranking are statistically similar across the criteria used by SJTU in their ranking.
		The results suggest there are 6 statistically distinct groups in the THES data, and as usual for fuzzy clusters some universities fall squarely in a particular group, and some universities share common traits with several groups.

		During their summer stay in Shanghai, faculty and students lived on campus at the SJTU Faculty Club in the center of Shanghai and participated in 15 organized group activities, including language and culture orientations, field trips, parties/picnics, and dinner banquets.
		The students visited the Shanghai Stock Exchange, Shanghai Museum, Shanghai’s Old City, Yu Garden, etc. The Shanghai Summer Program is a “general purpose” program where students can take humanities and social science courses that are relevant to the location, as well as engineering courses that are required for the students’ graduation.
		Founded in 1896, SJTU is similar to Georgia Tech, as it is a leading engineering university that offers comprehensive academic programs.

	Soccer-playing robot runs real-time embedded Linux
		The SJTU "JiaoLong" team has participated in a number of soccer competitions, and its robots have performed well.
		Our robots were constructed at SJTU Research Institute of Robotics as part of a project to build real-time, inexpensive, autonomous robots for the study of multi-robot systems operating under dynamic and uncertain environments.
		The main idea for designing the whole multi-robot system was to view each robot as an autonomous physical entity capable of intelligently interacting with changing, variable surroundings.
