SL will achieve results only if it is operationalised in a thoughtful way by people who are skilled in understanding both local priorities and the higher-level factors (policies, governance structures, etc.) that affect livelihoods.
SL approaches are very much rooted in current thinking about public/private partnerships and the need to mobilise all resources in order to combat entrenched poverty.
SL analysis is holistic in the sense that it tries to include all factors that affect livelihoods (whether or not these are explicitly noted in the SL framework).

The complexity of these transformations is such that they are not appropriate for assignment to the client.
These tasks in information generation are complex and have to be adaptable to evolving needs of the customers, to changes in data resources, and to upgrades of system environments.
The complexity is still an order less than that implied by arbitrary networks, simplifying composition both in terms of research and operational management.

Theory behind the project: COHLab at the U of Arizona
Because complexity results from the interaction between the components of a system, complexity is manifested at the level of the system itself.
Complexity theory acknowledges that the predictability of success of any particular set of pedagogical CMC initial conditions, tasks, etc., is negligible.
Complexity theory allows us to see computer-mediated classrooms, their pragmatics and pedagogies, and the multiple literacies involved in them, as dynamic systems which develop a form of internal structure through a process of self-organizing critically (SOC).

SL (complexity) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Although originally described in terms of symmetric Turing machines, that equivalent formulation is very complex, and the reducibility definition is what is used in practice.
This also showed that SL is contained in RLP, the class of problems solvable in polynomial time and logarithmithic space with probabilistic machines that reject incorrectly less than 1/3 of the time.
This placed USTCON, and SL, in co-RLP and in the intersection of RLP and co-RLP, which is ZPLP, the class of problems which have log-space, no-error randomized solutions and expected polynomial runtime.

SL: You could be more blunt: "Lloyd builds quantum computers; therefore, Lloyd thinks the universe is a quantum computer." But I think that's unfair.
SL: If you're looking for places where the laws of physics allow for information to be injected into the universe, then you must look to quantum mechanics.
So for the universe to be complex, you need random generation, and you need something to process that information according to a few simple rules: in other words, a quantum computer.

FROM THE FORUM ON OPERATIONALIZING SUSTAINABLE LIVELIHOODS APPROACHES
SL approaches have the potential to make the policy formulation process more bottom up, decentralized and pluralistic by empowering the poor to influence policy and by forging partnerships with actors outside government, such as the private sector, NGOs and civil-society organizations.
Complexity theory suggests that instead of trying to deconstruct a social system as a way of selecting interventions, there is a need to stand back and try to deduce "rules" within the complexity of a given system.
What complexity theory supports is not the identification of a set of golden rules but a process that encourages the articulation of a set of rules peculiar to each different social organization.

The Evolving Essence of the Science of Nursing, A Complexity Integration Nursing Theory
The Complexity Integration Nursing Theory provides a different pathway in order to socialize nurses into the profession, creating a world that can be perceived as objective and real by reaffirming the whole and real nature of our existence, by decoding the unconscious and promoting the meaningful interconnectedness with the others.
Both theorists recognized the placement of the components between each of the theories and the complexity integration of the chief components of the two theories as significant and essential for the advancement of professional nursing on a global perspective.
Therefore, the complexity integration of the two nursing theories demonstrates an evolutionary pathway for introducing a paradigm shift in the essence of the science of nursing necessary for the acceptance, implementation, and evaluation of the global concept of “Health for All”.

Irreducible complexity (also denoted IC) has gained prominence as the evidence for the intelligent design (ID) movement, which argues that life is so complicated that it must be the work of an intelligent designer (aka God) rather than the result of evolution.
He simply asserts that evolution of irreducible complexity by an indirect route is so improbable as to be virtually out of the question, except in simple cases.
Not one of the impressively complex biochemical systems said to be IC by IC/ID proponents has been shown to be in fact IC and several are known not to be.

Roughly, the analogue of #P for parameterized complexity.
In descriptive complexity, uniform AC can be characterized as the class of problems expressible by first-order predicates with addition and multiplication operators - or indeed, with ordering and multiplication, or ordering and division (see [Lee02]).
Finding a maximum flow, which is P-complete, can be done in CP Based on this the authors argue that "P is contained in CP," but this seems hard to formalize, since CP is not a complexity class in the usual sense.

This week I'll present a recent result by Reingold showing that SL=L. SL, short for "symmetric logspace", is a computational class that captures exactly the space complexity of determining whether there exists a path between two vertices in an undirected graph.
In the late 70's it was shown that a random walk in a graph visits every vertex with high probability, implying that undirected connectivity is in RL.
Several important, related questions remain open, including the complexity of computing universal traversal sequences and the deterministic complexity of RL.
