	Imperial German Navy in World War I - Schlachtschiffe of the Bayern-Class
		With main gun bore size among the Allies reportedly increasing to 13.5" and 14", the decision was made (before finding out the British had adopted the 15" for the Queen Elizabeth-class super-dreadnoughts) to adopt a 380mm (15") gun on the next class of battleships.
		Bayern was still undergoing trials when the Battle of Jutland occurred in May-June, 1916, but she was available for the next major event, Operation Albion.
		There she struck a mine that flooded the forward beam torpedo room and withdrew to a local port, where she was given a poorly contructed cofferdam that failed during her transit back to Germany.

	SMS Bayern - Battleship - 28,075 tons
		The Bayern and its sister ship the Baden (which was beached) were the heaviest ships in the Imperial Fleet at 28,075 tons, and the first to armed with eight 15" guns, capable of firing shells 4-5 nautical miles.
		Built as an answer to the HMS Queen Elizabeth, Britain's first super-deadnought, the Bayern was launched at Kiel on 18 February 1914 and was scuttled at 1430 hrs on 21 June 1919.
		The Bayern sank upside-down with its turrets in the mud, and was passed over by Cox and Danks Ltd., who salvaged many of the ships from 1924 onward.

	German battleships
		The SMS Posen was commissioned in May 1910 and was also part of the German fleet at the Battle of Jutland. She was stricken in November 1919, and was surrendered to Britain in 1920. She was scrapped in 1921.
		The SMS Helgoland was commissioned in August 1911 and was present at the Battle of Jutland. She was surrendered to the British in 1920 as a replacement for a scuttled ship at Scapa Flow. The Helgoland was scrapped in 1924.
		The SMS Oldenburg was commissioned in May 1912. She was the fastest ship of her class and took part in the Battle of Jutland. She was stricken in 1919 and was given to the Japanese as a reparation. The Oldenburg was sold to Britain and scrapped in 1921.
