While news of SNK Playmore bringing their Art of Fighting Collection to the States wasn't exactly surprising, news of the anthology making appearances on both the PSP and Wii might be a bit more unexpected.
SNK Playmore released their character dating sim Days of Memories for Japanese cellphone users last year, but now the company is bringing the opportunity to digital hit on SNK's line up of busty/cute chicks to the Nintendo DS.
Insert Credit reports that SNK Playmore has gotten a patent for the name "Air Dash." The Japanese game maker has been releasing loads of sequels and spin-offs of late, and many fans are hoping this is what they've been waiting for: A brand new game.

A Metal Slug Anthology, based on the popular 2D shoot-'em-up, is already planned, and SNK president Ben Herman said the company wanted to use the Wii controller "in a new and unique way that enhances the gameplay".

SNK Playmore is throwing its hat into the Nintendo ring, as the publisher today announced that it would begin supporting both the Wii and the Nintendo DS.
Previously, the only Nintendo system to see SNK Playmore development was the Game Boy Advance, which played host to Metal Slug Advance and is set to receive a port of the original arcade Metal Slug.
SNK Playmore also announced its intention to support the DS in America today.

SNK wanted to take advantage of people's desire to play arcade games at home, but without making the same compromises on CPU and memory horsepower that typical home consoles were forced to make.
SNK responded with Art of Fighting, which didn't knock people off their feet with its highly derivative gameplay and joke characters, but it did manage to impress all the same, thanks to its use of scaling characters and backgrounds--a technique that would later be put to use in the madly successful Samurai Shodown series.
SNK also stopped producing its huge arcade-style joysticks in favor of a gamepad that was cheaper to manufacture and more in line with the existing game controllers of the time.

Using less obscures references, SNK Playmore has revealed that one of their titles to be shown at this year's Tokyo Game Show is none other than Fatal Fury Special (Garau Densetsu Special in Japan) for the Xbox 360.

By far the best of these was SNK's Neo Geo Pocket Color, a weird little bit of hardware that was both technically underwhelming and home to some of the best portable software ever seen up to that time.
SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighter's Clash (and its Japan-only sequel) was perhaps the closest thing the NGPC had to a killer app, and now it looks like the magic is returning in a brand new game for the Nintendo DS.
If SNK Playmore does a good job of designing around this new interface, the game should be a joy to control.

We’ve mentioned it before and today SNK Playmore sent over a note that they are planning to release Art of Fighting Anthology for the PS2 this May. That’s not the only SNK fighter collection coming over Fatal Fury: Battle Archives volume 1 is scheduled to come out this summer too.
SNK Playmore has been pretty collection happy recently so there is a decent chance that The King of Fighters Orochi Collection will come over.
In an odd move SNK Playmore is porting Fu’un Super Tag Battle (aka Kizuna Encounter) to the Playstation 2.
