SPARS Code - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
SPARS is an acronym for the Society of Professional Audio Recording Studios.
Several limitations of the code have led to it being largely scrapped.
By the mid 1990s, confusion surrounding the code and the anomalies it produces led the inventor to recommend its discontinuation.

 De-mystifying Time Codes Part I
SMPTE/EBU time code is a binary code which becomes an embedded part of a picture or sound recording and assigns a specific address to each moment of time in a recording.
When non-drop frame time code is referenced to 60 Hz, it runs at a true 30 fps and agrees perfectly with real elapsed time.
So, in Drop Frame code the first two frames of every minute, except the top of the hour and the tens of minutes are "dropped" from the numbering system.

 De-mystifying Time Codes Part II
Time code is made of square waves, which are notorious for their tendency to leak (crosstalk) into other signals if not handled properly.
When there is no concern of time code leaking into the program, it is common practice to print code at the standard operating level of the tape (0 VU), or even higher.
On machines that print time code on a standard audio track, such as analog multitracks, or when using one of the audio tracks on three-quarter-inch video tapes, code must be recorded at a much lower level to avoid crosstalk in the audio program.

 SPARS Code
I totally agree with Charles that a SPARS code field should/must be added as a permanent/standard field to OCD suite, for it has become a standard ID feature in all CD that have been manufactured for the past 20 or so years.
And now that I know what a SPARS code is, I agree that it ought to be a permanent field in OCD.
At any rate, it occurred to me that the SPARS code needs to be set at the track level, as some CDs combine tracks with different SPARS codes.

 CD - MediaCoderWiki
Often this code was accompanied by a short description such as "Full Digital Recording" for DDD and "Digitally Mixed Analog Recording" for ADD.
An error-correcting code is included with Red Book audio to deal with small scratches or defects on the disc media.
Some of these deliberately introduced error patterns into audio tracks severe enough to defeat the error-correcting code (and hence defeat most CD-ROM drives attempting to copy the tracks as data), but not so disruptive as to prevent interpolation from working (hence allowing the same tracks to be played in audio mode without overly affecting fidelity).

History   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-12)
As a result, SPARS continued its rather ad hoc approach to its internship program, becoming a kind of clearinghouse to match the needs of member studios with the availability and inclinations of individual interns, and to put studio owners in touch with educators who had students ready for internship.
Despite all of its diverse leadership and varied programmatic accomplishments in the last five years of the 20th century, the true test of SPARS as a mirror of the audio industry at the beginning of the 21st century is the diversity of its membership.
SPARS is a small organization, and even if it were to double in size in the next five years (an ambitious but reachable goal), it would still be small.

Detachable bamboo kite spars - Bamboo Forums
This is a rather large kite: the two vertical spars have 2,70m, and the two horizontal spars 4,00m.
The vertical spars are whole, but the horizontal spars are cut down in the middle and have a hollow aluminum tube connector, filled with resin.
With the use of fiberglass or carbon based spars and the many types of ferrules it is difficult to find anything on actually using bamboo for the connectors, so one is more apt to use other manufactured products in combination with bamboo, and much would depend on local or internet availability.

The simple answer is: no. The SPARS code is often meaningless in and of itself.
As to which is better: Taken by itself, the code is not an indicator of recording quality in any specific sense.
For classical recordings, which have a long history of fine engineering and depend greatly on the musicianship and interpretation, the SPARS code should not be a prime determining factor in choosing one recording over another.

As long as I know, this code was created by the "Society of Professional Audio Recording Studios".
If the SPARS code was meant to represent the totality of the technology used, then the code would be something like DADAD, but according to the definition, the CD can carry a code of DDD, even though the signal has been processed in its analog form several times in the process.
For this type of recording, the SPARS code might be -DD.

Something I discovered the hard way in compiling this report is that too many DVD-A and SACD releases tell you not nearly enough about the origin of their content.
CD's three-letter SPARS code—which indicates which domain, analog or digital, the recording, mixing, mastering, were done in (AAD, ADD, DAD, DDD)—tells you only so much, granted, but it's more than some hi-rez releases do.
Hell, one of the discs I chose didn't even include track timings, either on the tray card or in the booklet, which by any account is plain inept.
