 KNU talks with SPDC begin in Rangoon
The SPDC has twenty representatives present at the talks, while some Kachin and Karen mediators are also participating in the meetings.
KNU subsequently issued a press release claiming that SPDC troops have violated the International Human Rights Treaty in incidents that occurred in Taungoo, located in the middle of Burma, and at Tha-ton, in the south-east of the country.
SPDC have not released news of their meeting with the KNU to media inside Burma.

The SPDC troops, from IB43, led by commander Myint Hla, the same patrol that had killed 3 innocent villagers the other day in the same village tract, seized the 2 women and gang-raped them in the farm until all the 30 troops were satisfied.
When the SPDC troops left the farm, Naang Aam had to treat her sister, who had lost consciousness while being gang-raped, for a long while until she regained consciousness before they could return to their village which was about 2 miles from their farm.
In June 2004, a woman was gang-raped by a patrol of 12 SPDC troops from IB43 while gathering bamboo for the military with her husband in the forest near Naa Khaw village in Murng Pu Awn village tract, Murng-Paeng township.

One of the immediate tasks of the first SPDC coordinator was to evaluate the successes and failures in forestry and related research in developing countries by means of a desk study and a series of international consultations.

SPDC, IUFRO's Special Programme for Developing Countries, was established in 1983 following a declaration of the 17th IUFRO World Congress in Kyoto, Japan, in 1981.
SPDC aims to strengthen the capacity for forestry research in developing and economically disadvantaged countries in cooperation with forestry research institutes and donor agencies of the international community.

In February 2004, a 59-year-old villager was accused of being an agent of the Shan resistance and tortured to death by the SPDC troops of LIB332 in Murng-Pan township.
As the SPDC Sergeant was about to shoot the other villagers, a group of SPDC troops came and controlled him, and took him to the base of LIB524.
The SPDC troops stopped Na Kyaw and asked where she was going and she told them she was going to Murng Lung village to buy some food.

Almost all of them were sent from SPDC military units and local SPDC authorities to village elders in Papun, Nyaunglebin, Pa’an, Thaton, Toungoo and Dooplaya Districts, which together cover almost all of Karen State and part of eastern Pegu Division (see Map 1 showing Burma or Map 2 showing Karen Districts).

In practice, most of the demands made by the military and SPDC authorities violate the conditions of these Acts (for example, that only able-bodied and unemployed men be conscripted and that conscripted labour should be paid), and when demanding forced labour the authorities almost never even make reference to the Acts.

 The Burmese military junta violates human rights (Monthly Report)
On 28 October 2004, some SPDC troops, including private Maung Htwe, aged 21, told the villagers that 2 days ago they had killed 4 Shan rebels who were gathering Mai-Hawm wood in the forest to be sold in the town market, and had taken the Mai-Hawm wood for themselves.
As Zaai Oo was resting in a deserted farm hut, a group of SPDC troops came and took his oxen away while one of the troops came into the hut and shot him dead.
The SPDC troops accused Zin-Ta of being a Shan soldier who was hiding in the village and interrogated him, beat and tortured him to make him say where the other Shan soldiers were.

Some SPDC officers and officials assign responsibility for rounding up forced labour to their DKBA and KPA allies, so the orders do not originate from SPDC units; but when they arrive for work, the villagers find themselves working for the SPDC nonetheless.
Set to a Village I: All of these orders were sent by SPDC and DKBA military units to a single village, ‘Village A’, in Papun District between August 2002 and October 2002.

After talks and negotiations on the National Convention with the SPDC, members of the KIO delegation, led by President Gen. Too Jiang, returned to Myitkyina, capital of Kachin state.

if one asked what SPDC did for the country, wel in my view, their work to modernise Myanmar is ok. road/bridges n linking to frontier areas r good job.(method they use can be discussed seperately on ocassions but its controversial to engage).
Yes I lov to c functioning democratic practice in Myanmar, I lov to c ordinary ppl can go about their daily business without fear for authority(except criminal activities of course), freedom of speech n most of all, all citizens hav the right to fight back if govt is unfair, by vote n other peaceful means.
If you read widely (there are lots of investigative journalism out there if you care to explore) you will find that a very large sum of money was transfered by Khun Sa's daughter into the accounts of the SPDC generals to assure the safety of her father.
