The Southern Railway (SR) gave the designations 6Pul, 6Cit and 6Pan to electric multiple units built to work the routes between London and Brighton, West Worthing and Eastbourne.
They were dedicated for use on the London Bridge to Brighton route (as opposed to the London Victoria route on which the 6Pul units were used), and were intended for the trains used by City workers, hence their designation.
At the same time a Class 33 locomotive was modified to work with the unit.

Rather than simply positioning the bridge to the west of the main building, the SR has seemingly taken passenger convenience into account by having the stair well immediately adjacent to the building entrance.
Homes radiated from the stations and such population increases were certainly good news for Welling goods traffic: the yard was doubled to a pair of sidings to meet the sudden demand for increased coal loads.
During June 1954, the platforms were lengthened with BR (SR) concrete castings at both ends of the layout for the acceptance of ten-car EPB formations.

Like the classes for One in Eight users of all ages, the sessions are presented in a way that allows older people to learn at the pace that suits them best, and with a strong emphasis on mutual self-help.
It’s a unique drop-in class where people can come and go, have a cup of tea, paint and talk, as well as taking on various challenges like painting with the non-dominant hand and, perhaps the hardest of all for students, finding something positive to say about their own work.
Because the class is based on the needs of those who work or are volunteers at One in Eight, no fixed charge is made for attendance; instead people are asked to donate towards the homeless.

Bilevel car - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In countries such as the United Kingdom, the railway system cannot accommodate double-deck trains.
A modest attempt at double decking was made in 1948 on the Southern Railway with the two trains of the Bulleid 4DD class.
Although innovative, with stepped compartments, where the bottoms of the upper seats are above the heads of the people on the lower level, but the feet of the people above are not, see [5], the loading gauge severely restricted their use and they were removed from service in 1971.

The 4Lav (4-car Lavatory stock, numbers 2921-2953) units were built in 1932 for use on the newly electrified London Victoria to Brighton line, operating the slower services over the route.
Despite the prominence given to the lavatory provision in the SR designation, there was actually only one lavatory in the whole four-car unit, and due to the lack of corridors in the unit, only passengers in that coach had access to it!
The original units were numbered 1921-1953 before the January/February 1937 renumbering of SR EMUs.
