Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci in Genoa harbour in 1965.
Michelangelo spent most of 1974 and 1975 cruising instead of Atlantic crossings, but cruising was not the ultimate cure for her: even though she had much deck space (an important feature for a cruiseship), she was considered too large for the cruise market.

 Michelangelo accident
Michelangelo was steaming towards New York with 745 passengers aboard, when at 10:00 am she encountered some very bad weather.
Michelangelo limped into New York, where temporary repairs were made, and the damaged parts of the ship were covered with canvas.
This was the only serious accident ever to take place on the Michelangelo, since her repair were very well done: she and her twin Raffaello later survived a similar storm without any damage.

Floodgap Roadgap -- Italian Highways and Other Things (Environs and Cities of Roma, Amalfi, Napoli, Siena, Ravenna, ...
Note the misnomer of SS routes being called "state" highways, as they are truly national in scope and are therefore administrated on a national level.
Similarly, SS 1 (co-numbered A92 in certain portions of Rome) is the modern form of the famous via Aurelia Aurelian Way; quite a few of the emperors' named routes still survive in the state highway system, and carry low numbers (such as SS 7 being the via Appia Appian Way).
Autostrade and SS motorway/freeway reassurance shields appear at regular intervals and generally denote a kilometre number and the route (with appropriate colour scheme) on usually a brown background.

Michelangelo Signorile: When journalists insist on steering away from thoughtful debate, and turn what could be a noble profession into one of the rankest forms of whoredom and political pandering, a line is crossed ("The Gist," 12/12).
After bizarrely lamenting that he was born too late to join the Waffen SS Charlemagne Division (erroneously labeled an "anticommunist unit"), Taki treats the reader to a crude lesson in sedition law: Perfidious Albion hanged Lord Haw-Haw on the basis that he had a British passport, ergo he was a traitor.
Joining a brutal SS unit, fighting for Hitler’s totalitarianism against Stalin’s brand, is hardly moral and not even understandable in context (I refer to Ukrainian and other Eastern Waffen-SS and Wehrmacht volunteers, who could point to the Soviet purges and massacres of their peoples as a reason).

The author examines Michelangelo's amazing talents as a painter, sculptor, and architect but also discuses how, frustrated by what he perceived as a lack appreciation for his artistry, he was often at odds with family, friends, and the patrons who commissioned his work.
When he was born, Michelangelo Buonarroti was put into the care of a stonecutter's family.
Soon after, Michelangelo was astonishing people with the lifelike creations he wrested from marble--from the heartbreaking Pieta he sculpted when he was only twenty-five to the majestic David that brought him acclaim as the greatest sculptor in Italy.
