SS Andrea Doria awaiting her inevitable fate the morning after the collision in the Atlantic Ocean, July 26, 1956.
When Andrea Doria and the Stockholm collided at almost a 90-degree angle, the Stockholm's sharply raked ice breaking prow pierced Andrea Doria's starboard side approximately midway of its length, penetrating three cabin decks to a depth of nearly 40 feet (12 m).
Five crew members of the Stockholm whose cabins were located in the bow area and were in the impact area of their ship at the time of the collision also perished, three during the collision, and two more later from mortal injuries.

While the psychological condition in hostage situations became known as “Stockholm Syndrome” due to the publicity – the emotional “bonding” with captors was a familiar story in psychology.
In severe cases of Stockholm Syndrome in relationships, the victim may have difficulty leaving the abuser and may actually feel the abusive situation is their fault.
For those with Stockholm Syndrome, allowing the children to be removed from the home decreases their victim stress while providing an emotionally and physically safer environment for the children.

SS Andrea Doria - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-22)
On July 25, 1956, while sailing off the coast of Nantucket bound for New York City, the Andrea Doria collided with the eastward-bound SS Stockholm of the Swedish-American Line in what was to become one of history's most famous maritime disasters.
As the Stockholm and the Andrea Doria were approaching each other head-on in the well-used shipping corridor, the Andrea Doria had been traveling in heavy fog for hours.
Five crew members of the Stockholm whose cabins were located in the bow area and were in the impact area of their ship at the time of the collision also perished, three apparently upon impact, two from mortal injuries.

Less than one third of the Ss could accurately recall their emotional reactions experienced upon learning about the news, but they were not more consistent in their recall of circumstantial event information as compared to the rest of the Ss.
The consistency of the Ss' accounts was measured by a comparison of information gathered in the police reports and the recollection given in a research interview.
Exp 2, with 60 new Ss who read feature lists generated by Ss in Exp 1, showed that the better recall for the traumatic event was not due to more memorable words but to the increased "memorability" of the words due to the personal reference to the traumatic event.

The A29-class trams were the very last new cars delivered to Stockholm; they were built in 1954-55 by Hagglund and ASEA companies with use of parts of old A11/A12-class cars.
By 1962, there were 405 trams in Stockholm but Stockholm Tramways decided to withdraw all city's trams and almost 400 older buses rather than convert them to the standard Continental right-hand drive.
On the 2nd of September 1967 the last tram ran in Stockholm’s inner city and only a few hours later the rule of the road was changed from the left to the right.

The Stockholm Syndrome comes into play when a captive cannot escape and is isolated and threatened with death, but is shown token acts of kindness by the captor.
The original supposed victim of “Stockholm Syndrome” is Kristin Ehnemark, who appears to have kept her head while managing, with Olafsson’s assistance, to keep Olsson and an army of trigger-happy police from an all-out fire fight.
The botched bank robbery is simply too mundane to be the source of such an exotic explanation, which really seems to have been more of an attack on the idea of peaceful resolution tactics, particularly when applied to mentally disturbed perpetrators (as if murderers, rapists and armed robbers were not severely dysfunctional).

Armored with strong icebreaker-steel, the bow of the Swedish ship had torn a gaping hole in the flank of the Italian ship and with it dealt the death blow.
The "Stockholm" also had received her portion of damage.
