		STP is a brand name and trade name for the automotive additives and performance division of the Clorox Corporation.
		While Studebaker abandoned auto manufacturing in 1966 to become a closed investment company, STP sales continued to climb to the point where it was spun-off of Studebaker-Worthington Corporation’s balance sheet and into a publicly traded company in 1969.
		For a long time STP was the sponsor of stock-car drivers Richard Petty and John Andretti, as well as having been a sponsor of Indy racecar driver Mario Andretti, John's uncle.

		Both companies claimed to be using the very latest in shear-stable polymers for viscosity retention, and while claiming no knowledge of the motorcycle-specific oils' formula, expressed serious doubt that they could contain some type of additive that was superior in this context to that already being used in their automotive oils.

		Bottom line is: When using a properly formulated motor oil you do not need any additives whatsoever and additionally, the additives you may put in can react negatively with the additives the oil company carefully blended in.
		It was a motor with rotating solid steel disc secured to the motor shaft and a torque meter with a flat piece of steel mounted on the torque arm.
		They put every type of oil on the market, one by one, on the machine and pressed hard on the torque meter and at about 20-40 lb-ft torque the torque arm would stall the motor....that is until they cleaned it off and tried their (chlorinated) additive "IXL" on the bearing and ran the test.
