S rem heel sts to first needle; this (centre of heel bottom) is the beg of rounds.

I like to put the first and last increases closer to the side seam because there will be increases on the other side of the garment too and this way they are evenly spaced once the garment is seamed.
I start with the number of sts on the needle subtract the number to be increased, divide the number of remaining sts by the number to be increased, and then divide that number by 2.
So I start by knitting 19 sts, then increasing by working into the front and the back of the next st. Knit 38 sts, work into the front and the back of the next st, knit 19.
