The temporal spread of the VO and SVO patterns over Different verbs   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-06)
There was no early SVO among Travis's first 20 VO combinations; for Ruti, 3 of her 20 earliest VO utterances with given verbs were already SVOcombinations (the 7th, 11th and 15th).
The fact that the same speed-up of acquisition occurs both in VO and SVO is one of the central pieces of evidence suggesting that the speed-up is specifically tied to the number of previously produced verbs in the same kind of combination.
If VO-combinations were the first two-word combinations in the speech of the children, and SVO, the first three-word combinations, the slow-starting and accelerating learning curves for these two kinds of multiword utterances could have reflected children's cumulative practice with planning longer prosodic envelopes, regardless of the syntax of these utterances.

The SVO Story   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-06)
That the low volume, high profile SVO Mustang could be assembled from existing parts made the idea that much easier to sell to the Ford brass, which okayed an initial run of just over 1500 units.
The SVO story really began two years earlier, in 1982, when a group of 30 engineers built two Mustang prototypes to take to Nelson Ledges, Ohio, a yearly 24-hour road race for Grand Touring cars.
Mechanicals aside, much of the SVO's uniqueness comes from it's appearence: a single headlight front end with wraparound bumper and side markers, sloping hood with off-center functional hood scoop, narrow side moldings, rear wheel flairs, single louvered quarter panel, and a biplane spoiler.

Factors determining the choice of the first verbs in VO and SVO-combinations   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-06)
Another possibility is that all verbs occurring in VO-combinations in the input form one candidategroup, and all SVO-verbs, another candidate-group for acquisition in combinations, and that children choose the first verbs according to their relative frequency in the input among these specific candidate verbs.
Whether the actual verbs chosen by each child are the most frequently modelled verbs in the VO or the SVO pattern in the input is at presently unknown, but it is possible to evaluate this likelihood by looking at some examples.
Although more descriptive data is needed, it seems safe to conclude that the starting-verbs for VO and SVO in our sample are indeed high-frequency verbs in parental input speech.

Straight vegetable oil as diesel fuel: Journey to Forever
SVO is less winter-hardy than biodiesel (which itself isn't very winter-hardy).

SVO cannot be used straight from the expeller and is often produced in big centralized factories in Europe.
